Tony Coulter:

Greetings, all! Can anyone ID today's LP-under-the-cassettes? Should be pretty easy, actually, both because it's a well-known album and because it's making a return engagement here on Tape Hiss.

fred:

Good afternoon Tony and listeners

Heya, Fred!

Sem:

"Hello, Tony, he hissed."

How many times have I read about someone hissing something, and there isn't an "s" to be seen? Too often, you're right. Hello, fred.

Yvang:

Hello Tony and Fred and Sem! I'll stay totally mute about the album.

@ Yvang: Thanks for staying mute -- especially since you didn't half to.

Afternoon, ye hissterical hissterians.
Avatar 12:09pm
Tony Coulter:

I suspect Tom & Lori logged some time listening to Laurie Anderson.
Avatar 12:09pm

How many hands was Secretariat?

Prenoon, βrian! (It's just past 9:00 AM here in Portland.)

Well, 11 am here on the isthmus, but I'm still on Ann Arbor time.

@Tony: A few weeks ago I met a guy at a show who used to listen to your show when he lived in the US (he was wearing the Pulaski Skyway T-shirt). He didn't know about the drummer stream and thought you had stopped doing your show. Hopefully he'll tune in someday
Avatar 12:13pm
Tony Coulter:

Thanks for spreading the word, Fred! Many former listeners of mine somehow haven't been clued into the stream yet.

Tony Coulter:

No one (other than Yvang) knows what today's mystery LP is? Or did you forget to guess? Remember, you have to be Inuit to win it.
  12:25pm
Doug Schulkind:

Thank you, fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Jeff Golick:

Hi Tony. I got the LP, but don't believe I'm eligible. I too will stay mute. Or somewhat mute.
Avatar 12:26pm
Tony Coulter:

Jeff G! You didn't half to! But thanks....
Avatar 12:27pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Doug!! How's the old world treating you today?
Avatar 12:29pm
Tony Coulter:

A pity Tom and Lori never got to make their planned follow-up album" "Feet."
Avatar 12:33pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, since everyone who knows what today's album is is apparently not Inuit, I'll do the big reveal now: It's Tuxedomoon's "Half-Mute" www.discogs.com...
Avatar 12:38pm
northguineahills:

Heard Tom & Lori before. I love the Yoko and Casio fun aspect. Work almost gave me an aneurysm... all copacetic now (finished less then two minutes before the deadline).
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

Greetings, NGH! Glad all is copacetic and aneurysm-free!
Avatar 12:45pm
Nick S.:

Hey! Glad to finally make it!
Avatar 12:49pm
Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, Nick! Glad you made it!

@ngh: When my soon-to-be-former boss organized a conference, he looked at the submission site stats to find most papers were submitted within minutes of the deadline

Doug Schulkind:

Figuring where to go for dinner, Tony. It’s approaching 8pm here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

@Doug: I hope you're not even considering McDonald's (ducks)
Avatar 1:00pm
Kay:

Tuxedomoon! Do I get the late-through-the-door prize?
  1:00pm
Doug Schulkind:

@fred
If McDonald’s built a franchise here, Ikarians would push it into the sea.
Avatar 1:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Kay-a! Well, I'll award you an honorary mention -- the secret has already been revealed.
Avatar 1:32pm
Tony Coulter:

Dichotic: involving or relating to the simultaneous stimulation of the right and left ear by different sounds (I didn't know.)
Avatar 1:44pm
Tony Coulter:

By the by, that Erling Wold track we just heard is also on his album "Music of Love": www.discogs.com...

Plus, Wold is on this great Duncan Trio LP: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 1:46pm
Ike:

The Ikarians sound all right to me. Do they eat babaganoush there?
Avatar 1:48pm
Tony Coulter:

Ike! The Ike-arians must be your long lost people.
Avatar 1:50pm
Tony Coulter:

The Ike Aryans.
Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

Norbert's got the just intonation blues.
Avatar 1:53pm
Tony Coulter:

Oh, forgot to mention: Erling Wold was also in the Beefheart-influenced band Name: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
fred:

I think the Ikarians were named after a clueless guy who thought an extra apostrophe would allow his to soar, but instead the extra weight brought him down to his death
Avatar 1:54pm
northguineahills:

I just intonated here....(sorry)

Tony Coulter:

The return of Thomas Dougherty ....
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

Damn you, pre/post-echo!
Avatar 2:07pm
Tony Coulter:

NB: The previous track was a reconstruction of actual Ancient Greek music -- which used just intonation scales. It went out to Doug

You were right, I have Ulysses Departs from the Edge of the World.

I spend three years (98-2001) looking for Robert Rich material before I found some (at Other Music).
Avatar 2:56pm

Will definitely have to fade this Partch out, unfortunately -- Ulysses will depart from the edge of the world ahead of schedule.
