Americans love cars. FunFact™: “The Transformers” were basically a collection of semi-random cool transforming toys sold into Japan. Until Hasbro decided to bring them to the U.S. and then—working with Marvel Comics writers—they came up with the narrative of “Autobots versus Decepticons.”

So it’s basically “Cars” versus anything else that is not a car… LIKE SOCIALISM!!!

  10:49pm

Only $20? Even in played-in condition those could easily fetch about $200 a piece at least. Anyway, we all have stories like that of things being lost due to relatives being a bit callous.

JakeGould:

@NGH: Welp, this is what I have learned about objects I hate… Sometimes other people want them and will pay good money for it.

Biggest regret as a kid was having a small but solid Mego action figure collection. iron Man, Spiderman, Shazam and all that. Still in box. I bought them from a neighborhood store for the $3-4 retail they went for at the time. Sold them to fellow kids for about the same price. Flash forward to nowadays, the same figures would be about $800 to $1000 a piece in the shape I kept them in.

Still, I prefer not to be a hoarder. So hey! I feel for your dad.

Of course, my dad would also throw out school reports/homework from elementary school through HS if I left it out on the kitchen table, so my mother and I commonly would dig through the trash looking for it the morning due. (oh, back when printing took forever).

Biggest regret from childhood involving a toy: I got this crazy car for Xmas called Road Hog. It had a rubber Porky Pig head jutting out of the metal body and it would drive around like someone smoking crack in a high speed pursuit. I left it in the produce section of Thriftymart, and that was the end of that. Boy did I cry!

Once when the t.v. broke, my dad brought home this metal checker board that when you flipped it over it was Chinese checkers. Long after I had left home I found it in the hall closet at my parent house. I threw it in the back of my Volkswagon and forgot about it until one day I was putting some backpacking equipment into the car and a I placed it on top of the car while I was tryng to fit every thing in. Well, I forgot it there and drove away. I was about two blocks from my house when I saw it fall off in the rear view mirror. I pulled over to pick it up from the street when a cement mixer came out of nowhere ran it over. It was compleatly ruined. so I just threw it in the gutter, got in my car and drove away.
