Hi folks!
  9:56pm
Jeff g., walking the dog:

Just no rattles, please. Hi, Sam, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
Sam Segal:

Jeff and Melinda, thank you both for popping in. I promise any rattling or rambunctious dissonance will only be for effect!

Got the 2nd 1/2 of my swag right now. Happy happy day. I'm so excited, I can't even do the happy dance. *The Homer spinning around in circles on the floor will do for now*.

*So excited, I can't type, apparently*

Can you tell if any of those prizes came from this here program, NGH?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm

greetings Sam and abandoned horse people

All the stars are here! Welcome, Coel!

I have more prizes then I can comprehend. Let me look!

I can't remember if I got the Gas double CD from you or Jesse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Sam Segal:

I gave that one away, but I think Jesse did too. We may never know!

SAM!!!! what is chicken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Sam Segal:

Good Guy, as someone who I can only assume has read Marx's Capital Vol. 1, you should be well aware that "Chicken" is a commodity with use-value in direct proportion to the useful labor used to...uh...well yeah...or something like that...
Avatar 10:26pm
northguineahills:

*Passes out from swag euphoria*
Avatar 10:27pm
JustTryingToBeAGoodGuy:

WOW chicken sounds hard!
Avatar 10:28pm
JustTryingToBeAGoodGuy:

Im sure marx just never TRIED chicken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Sam Segal:

In his day, Good Guy, chicken WAS hard...like a piece of concrete or a glass ornament of a chicken.
Avatar 10:31pm
northguineahills:

Just read a review of a Bjarki 12" in The Wire.
Avatar 10:33pm
JustTryingToBeAGoodGuy:

Now chicken is a sponge shaped like a chicken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Sam Segal:

That Bjarki tune I played feels demented in a genuinely new way. I would love to hear it on a club soundsystem.
Avatar 10:36pm
northguineahills:

I still haven't hooked up my subs, still just 3" speakers, next door neighbor complained when I was blaring (yeah, it was loud) Gary's Japanese noise show (and my neighbor is in the house next door).
Avatar 10:37pm
northguineahills:

(I have 12" subs, afraid to hook them up).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
coelacanth∅:

but if you use the 12" subs you wouldn't have to turn it up as much to enjoy it, probably; and if the neighbor does hear it it may not annoy him/her/it as much because it likely wont be as distorted. maybe.
Avatar 10:40pm
northguineahills:

That's a perfect song title for Mark Hurst;s Techtronic show (recommend it to him!)
Avatar 10:42pm
northguineahills:

True, coel, noise music is a whole other beast. Then again, I got a noise complaint from the other neighbor blaring a MLK Jr on his holiday w/ the same 3" speakers....

Carmichael:

Heya Sam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm

oh ngh that's messed up! i feel no mercy for whomever that complainer may be.

Carmichael! Thanks for stopping by!

melinda:

I still have swag from 2 years ago I haven't heard because I don't have the proper stereo-turntable setup. I need an on-site audio consultant.
Avatar 10:48pm
northguineahills:

(They were Brazilian, when my landlord contacted me, and I explained, he was cool w/ it)(Landlord is a liberal city council person thingy)
Avatar 10:50pm
northguineahills:

@melinda, I haven't hooked up my turntables yet, as my wife has a specific plan of what furniture it should go on on her CAD design of my house. Unfortunately, I can't afford said furniture at this moment due to unforeseen circumstances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
melinda:

@ngh too many variables thwarting our musical possibilities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
melinda:

I like Zaire.
Avatar 11:01pm
northguineahills:

@melinda: I dare not argue w/ her, even though she 's still in Brooklyn. It's what's she does for a living. If she's on the lead team to design Obama's presidential library, I'll take her advice.

Zaire, now conveniently renamed the Democratic Republica of Congo (Kinshasa).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
melinda:

@ngh sounds like she know's what she's doing and it will be worth the wait.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
coelacanth∅:

similar thwartingness here. i engineered my whole set-up to be more practical than it was in my last apartment, 1/2 of which was added piece by piece to the existing set-up there. got the turntable hooked-up, up upon almost 3" of various cushiony/dampening substances. but if i sneeze (for example...i actually rarely sneeze) the whole room shakes. i know i can't play records, regardless of dampening.
so i still haven't heard records (from wfmu & other sources) that i've had for >2 years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm
melinda:

The Devil is Busy in Knoxville. What a great album title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
melinda:

Loving this set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks, Melinda! I was inspired thinking about all of the amazing releases I have in my collection from the great French Ocora label.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm

This Lao number is amazing.
Avatar 11:17pm
northguineahills:

What melinda said! It hasn't rained in two days, so off a gardening at night I go before bed (there's an REM song about that). I'll have the windows open to hear the sounds. Wil be back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
Sam Segal:

I think this next set ought to accompany night gardening pretty well. Don't wander too far, NGH.
Avatar 11:21pm
northguineahills:

Wow, coel, Every apt I had in NYC, the deal was w/ my neighbors, no music from midnight to noon on weekdays, and 2am-noon on weekends, except for rare special occasions which we would text each other in advance (and invite). buena suerte con tus aventuras de audio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
coelacanth∅:

ngh i wont pay to live somewhere where i may not play music 24/7, but i am considerate to the possibility of it being too loud, even if i've considered the layout/acoustics/sound-insulation so i turn it down around 10 if i think it's loud - gradually further as it gets later. i start turning it down at mn on fridays & saturdays. i also push it to see what i can get away with. i ask them before i push it that much if they hear it; if it bothers them.
if they're people that are not interested in being civil to their neighbors, (like the guy in the other first floor apartment) then Fuck 'em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
coelacanth∅:

haha but now i realise that you must've misunderstood my comment - which was about Martin Luther King Jr., not about people being justified sometimes to complain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am
coelacanth∅:

Thanks Sam! take care - everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am
melinda:
