That Lemon Twigs song sounds so much like sunshine and whimsy that it pretty much doesn't matter what words they're singing.

They could be singing about murder and dismemberment and cannibalism, and I'd be all "Ah! What a breezy song!"

I smoked a joint with Sean Lennon at an after-party for Blur in the '90s. I still cherish that memory.

Hey Pseu! Did you see the latest in dietary news? “Low-carb diet linked to early death, medical study suggests: Researchers concluded that people who ate a moderate amount of carbohydrates lived four years longer than those with low-carbohydrate consumption and one year longer than those who ate a lot of carbohydrates.” www.usatoday.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Hughie Considine:

Well, Wild Neil, Sean suggested it. I was with a famous actress who happens to be my cousin, and they got to chatting. He had like a Sucrets box and rolled a nice one as we talked. Perfectly lovely, unpretentious person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

Oh man, this era of Bangles just slays me.
  12:54pm
JakeGould:

@Pseu: Don’t eat too much junk. There’s this really nice bakery I pass by when I do mega walks—like 2-3 miles—and one time I bought a pack of 6 nice rolls. You know what? Talk about defeating exercise with a $1.50 investment!

@Jake, you never know. I think it's akin to artists getting sick of performing their one hit, or the thing they're best know for. And some bands were never taken seriously again after having a hit. "I Wanna Be a Flintstone" comes to mind.

I would like to get Herb Alpert Whipped Cream and other Delights, its pretty good actually!
  1:15pm
JakeGould:

@HughieConsidine: I really don’t think cynicism towards Peanuts really adds up to much. The idea that Vince Guaraldi somehow hated his work for Peanuts is silly if you understand that it was an uphill battle just to get jazz music as part of a children’s cartoon. Heck, even Charles Schultz doubted it. But it worked. That’s art for ya!

There are definitely a lot of bitter a-holes in the arts, but Vince Guaraldi never seemed to be one.

Hughie Considine:

@Jake, I'm sure Vince was happy for the work. I was saying 'hate' for effect. Still, he was in the midst of making a career on his own. And then he's famous because of Peanuts. It's like the end of Pope of Greenwich Village, when Paulie puts lye in Bedbug Eddie's coffee. And Charlie goes, "What'd you do? I had him."
