Hey everybody. I missed hearing last week's show live for the first time in forever because I was out partyin' with Ryley Walker after his first of 2 shows he played in Philly last week, ha ha.

It was great, on Sunday he played with Bill McKay and on Friday he played with Ryan Jewell opening for Espers and Vetiver.

Also Meg Baird sang with Vetiver on a cover of Sleep a Million Years. I didn't find out until afterwards they were performing a cover album they did like 10 years ago in its entirety. I've somehow missed out on hearing Vetiver until the other night.

They were pretty good, but I really liked when they'd jam out, but they didn't do it too much. Oh well.

rw:

Hey! I had to check the lyrics to be sure but Moby Grape were singing about Robitussin. And Grandma.

Adamsworth, I'm so envious that you were able to attend that show - very pleased to hear the positive review.

One of my coolest memories is driving through Montana prarie zone with mountains in the distance as the sun was coming up, and antelopes were running in the field alongside the road.

I'm late and crazy. I said to my boyfriend 'this is really upbeat. Not the usual.'

Was in Down Home last weekend, when they played instore the entire Moby Grape record. Really struck me. Must acquire. Meanwhile, I've landed the 50th anniversary remasters of the first two Grateful Dead albums. Just wow.

loving this classic rock you never know what to expect on wfmu but i expect the unexpected if you know what i mean

Dean:

My introduction to the Dead was, perhaps not surprisingly, Workingman's Dead. From there I passively understood the extent of their contribution. Only lately have I begun to dig in. Yes, those first two albums sound real good. The second comes with mono and stereo versions. (I prefer the former.) Both have relatively contemporaneous live shows. Top notch, all of it.
  11:36pm
Dean:

Just ordered the Cornell '77 show, too. More than a few times I have proclaimed that I attended EVERY SINGLE DEAD SHOW, and I won't deny those statements. But I've been slow to pick up the souvenirs, and now I'm just getting started.
  11:37pm

That's cool Dean. Jeff, I miss the long Dead sets at this new slot, but think things flow well.

Yeah, love this song...bought a used copy of the Fairport Chronicles recently and it includes some of their connected musical releases. I'd never heard The Bunch before...it's got a lot of the Fairport members as well as Linda Peters (later Thompson).

Just bought the Denny record. Thanks.

Hey Jeff - I think "Träden" is pronounced more like the trad in traditional - but say it however you want as long as you play it
