Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Ken From Hyde Park:

@queems - I signed up to deliver a pie for a church event. We had to leave before they served it, so baked another one for ourselves to see how the recipe turned out. Berries, sugar, corn starch, water and lemon juice to make the pie filling.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am steveo:

Cool to play "Dueling Banjos" for Burt Reynolds. I guess you wouldn't deign to play Jerry Reed's theme to Smokey and the Bandit which has a good banjo sound as well.

  10:38am Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Thank you Joe! Ran to my phone just so I could tell you how much I appreciate you playing the Brother Johnson. Had this on 8track as a kid.
Avatar 10:38am TDK60:

One day in '64, I played my 45 of Can't Buy Me Love by the Fab 4 on the rekkid player, then turned on an AM radio (WABC?) and "Can't" was playing exactly at the same time!; for half a minute they were in sync then slowly started going different micro-speeds, the echo-y sound supplying one of my earliest proto-psychedelic experiences. True story.

@TDK60 was it you who was at Cropredy this year. If so, this might bring back memories.

Henry: I tried similar with cassette a decade back: Vaughan Williams' Symphony #2 - one thru stereo, the other thru a guitar amp with tremolo, a bit out of phase.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am The Oscar:

Powerhouse! The first time I heard Raymond Scott, my mind was *blown* that all these motifs from Looney Tunes were actual songs with titles.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Vincent Nifigance:

@JoeMcg Beavis and Butthead came back recently. Ren & Stimpy went adult in the early 2000s didn't they? Never saw any of those, by all accounts they were better when they had a line to poke a horribly detailed toe over, but not too far.

Speaking of Hildegard, hie thee all to Sequentia's latest record, Boethius: Songs of Consolation

Really gorgeous, top-notch Sequentia.

Anita Morris = Red head from the She Was Hot video
  11:10am Dean:

Heard Rachel Sweet live right about then, maybe '79, Whisky-a-Go-Go.
  11:10am Rick A.:

Anita Morris was the actress in the "She Was Hot" video. She was a Tony award winning actress from the musical 9. She was almost forty when she was in that video which represented a sadly seldom example of a woman close to forty allowed to be sexy in American media.
  11:11am miles:

Anita Morris was also in The Hotel New Hampshire

Sad to read about Anita Morris...she died at 51.

I liked the film "Absolute Beginners" even though it got panned. Bowie dancing on a typewriter if memory serves.

Hello Joe McG. My radio just turned itself on just in time for this calming "In Cedars" song. This little transistor radio has a mind of its own.

@mb: Lovely! You are just in time for some softer sounds ideal for this somewhat rainy Monday morn.

@Dean, Oliver Sacks makes mention of Hildegarde at the begining of one of his books.
  11:46am Dean:

My go-to source for things Hildegard is the literary historian Peter Dronke, who happened to have penned the liner notes to Sequentia's *first* traversal of the Ordo Virtutum. (They recorded it twice!) Dronke advised the group, too, about the various genres of medieval poetry that serve as the texts of songs they perform. Independent of the music and recordings, Dronke's work is strong.
