JakeGould:

Hey Scott!

Gonna post two quick movie reviews:

9 1/2 Weeks (1986): Never saw it before. Just saw it. Hilarious self parody of itself. Stupid movie otherwise. The “sex” scenes are so bad on so many levels. Recommending if you like “Silk Stalkings.”

Mad Max (1980): Rewatching for the first time since about when Brett Kavanaugh gang raped some poor woman. Not bad, but some of the scenes drag on or play out like some Warner Brothers cartoon. Other than Mel Gibson and the antagonist, nobody can act. Not a great film.

Avatar 3:57pm
northguineahills:

@Jake: I rewatched Mad Max two years ago and came to the same conclusion.
  3:58pm
JakeGould:

The one thing that stultified me when I first visited the midwest back in the early 1990s was how horrible local news is. It can only be worse in 2018.
Avatar 3:58pm
northguineahills:

I saw Baby Momma this weekend, as it had Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who are both great actors and writers, but that movie was shite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Stanley:

Th' Captain!
  3:59pm
JakeGould:

@NGH: It’s like some of the chase scenes are amazing, but it stinks. I mean I can laugh at “Escape from New York” nowadays, but the movie holds up tons better as far as post-apocalyptic hells cape 1980 films go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
crateslinger:

I once met the weather girl for Cleveland television news waiting for a plane at JFK. She was nice enough.

  4:03pm
JakeGould:

@Scott: No, I complimented some things. Here, let me say “Bad News Bears,” “Every Which Way But Loose,” “Heathers,” “Breaking Away” and lots of other films are great.

I’m just saying two films—one I never saw before and one I haven’t seen in decades—stink.

I think “Flashdance” is great; same director as “9 1/2 Weeks” but better film.

Thanks again, Scott W.

Ewa again : "… she sings of love, anxiety, despair… the green meadows and forests…
the taste of tears and the taste of grapes, the smell of sweet peas and roses, the wind
… the silence of September twilight, the heat of summer – water, fire and earth
… the war and the war’s cruel death
… Ossian’s mystery play
… Soloman’s accesses of love…
The music composed by Zygmunt Konieczny and Andrzej Zarycki combines elements of the old music and contemporary vanguard; it expresses the atmosphere of poetry in a perfect manner."
