Yay, Irene! Great to hear you of an evening.

steveL:

The Page vocal sounds like a woman who did a song on KMFDM/EXTORT. "This is your life.. This is your fucking life.." Flat, Uber-sarcastic. Awesome. A little scary.

Glad to be tuned in.

What a song. What a band. You Jersey folks ought to be proud! Always loved Smithereens.

Hi Eugene, Jeff, steveL and Mister Dobalina! Nice to be filling in for Evan tonight. That song by nehiyawak features indigenous Canadian poet Marilyn Dumont, reciting a poem about the loss of nature. The Smithereens are playing the Hoboken Arts Festival this Sunday at about 4:30pm.

Johnzon, that's what I thought the first time heard that ELO tune. And Hi Julie, melinda, dano and Bootsie! melinda, that's Mister Mushy, as still as I could get him to sit for a picture. And yeah, that ELO show was Fabulous! I was singing along with just about every tune.

Irene, I'm so sorry about the passing of your feline companion. I treasure all those lovely Monday afternoons, when we had co-joined weekends. For oh, so many years, Monday was; Me, my cat and Irene! That wildcat is long gone, and the Kitten who became my new companion, had to go, last week as well...Listener Hugh

Thanks Hugh! Mister and my dearly departed Fellini were just getting to be companions. Despite the shock, I have the comforting powers of three other felines, who can sense how sad Peter and I are.

About the Punch Bros: They admire and exemplify the legacy of vast music that is oft taken for granted. Irene, get more radioactive. We miss you and your deep soul. Your live broadcast meant a lot to many of us.

Irene Trudel:

Garee, I'm very touched. It may be a while before I get to do a regular show again. Wasn't my choice. But I think I'm filling in for Matt Fiveash on Weekly World Blues on Nov. 6th. I'll post something on FaceBook and my web page to confirm it.

Irene Trudel:

Hi All! I just talked with our Computermeister Jeff. He says there's been a problem for a few days. He said to try the AAC or iTunes stream. Our pop-up player he says can be a bit fragile (probably the phone app too). All I can say is a clean archive will be posted after the fact. Sorry for the troubles!
  11:24pm
david:

the weirdest thing is that I've been listening to it all day with no problem. it started acting up about 30 min ago
  11:25pm
el Garee le Bee~:

coelacanth∅: Now not the time to do tech but don't know what you mean. Huge buffer on this end and had problems with iPhone an hour or so ago.
Avatar 11:31pm
Jeff Moore:

Hey, all!

Our current tentative theory about recent stream troubles is that there have been some pretty major problems in the Internet at large – we know there have been some Verizon outages – which affect some people and not others, based on geography (or more correctly network topology).

We've been seeing good communication between the station and our public streaming servers, but from there... reliability of the paths to users has been really variable.

I'd say that:

- standalone stream players (VLC, iTunes, JRiver, etc) are usually more robust in the face of network hiccups than web-browser popup players.

You can first try the direct AAC stream URL to our primary stream server:

stream0.wfmu.org...

If your path from that is flaky, you can try our backup stream server:

stream1.wfmu.org...

Note that traffic via the backup (stream1) server costs us more money, so please only use it when necessary.

Good luck to all of us!

Hi, Irene. Glad you could make it tonight.
  11:46pm
el Garee le Bee~:

Ok Jeff. Very helpful. VLC and iTunes have always produced the best results. But often when lazy we go to the easiest stream per your site when we want to hear Irene and other passionate programmers who we love... I think that 'FMU has a phone app for that. This listener likes to keep costs low.
  11:53pm
Alex of Chicago:

No blips here. Maybe just lucky for once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm
