Fayelord strikes again. Cast Your Fate To the Wind is such a great instrumental. Such potential for the dynamic range.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm Folsom:

I heard a story that Charles Shulz wanted Vince Guaraldi to score the Peanuts specials after hearing Cast Your Fate To the Wind.

Word puzzle time! Let's start with an easy one. Fill in the blanks: F_y_L_r_.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Richard S:

John Williams did the themes for "Lost in Space" and "The Time Tunnel"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm steveo:

As a WFMU listener, I find myself sometimes thinking about the connections between gospel, blues, and rock. I suppose I also need to add jazz onto the equation. Maybe jazz is a reaction against the vocal traditions that grew out of church hymns? Anyone recommend any readings that explore thoughts like this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Folsom:

also Barney Miller theme!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Cooh John:

We don't need no woids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Fuzzy:

Chuck Mangione, Van McCoy -- I'd say '77 or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Fuzzy:

But Herb Alpert would say i am wrong.
  8:35pm Listener Robert:

The trouble is that since someone made "Go To Hell On 7 Second Delay", I can think of nothing else when I hear "Telstar".

Avatar 8:35pm dale:

had this 45 as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm Fuzzy:

This is a strange version.
  8:37pm Listener Robert:

Actually that's a general problem with all instrumentals, going back centuries: They practically invite wise guys to concoct lyrics, usually nasty ones.
Avatar 8:38pm dale:

really? that was the version i owned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Fuzzy:

Not on Pickwick?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm Fuzzy:

Your call is important to us...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm Folsom:

Popcorn got pretty high i think, not sure if number 1 though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Faye:

lol such a good point robert...
  8:48pm Listener Robert:

I even concoct some lyrics to to short instrumental passages in pop music that has lyrics. For instance, in "Do Ya" I add "...and sawing wood and sawing wood and sawing wood and sawing wood."

Then there was the person whose grandma was always adding from the radio ad "L-A-V-A, L-A-V-A" to the kettle drums in "Thus Spake Zarathustra".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm steveo:

Did Vangelis get to number one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm Richard S:

"Harlem Shake" touched #1 in 2013

Before that, it was the Miami Vice theme in 1985
