"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Yo!:

Hi JA, please stop playing this song to start your show, it was fun one or two times, now it's boring and tiring really, pleeeaaase. Love the show otherwise.

I think you should play Steve Reich's Four Organs in its entirety at the start of each show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am
The Oscar:

If it weren't for this song I'd never know to wake up on Fridays.

You have to listen a little harder, please. Then, you’ll like it.

i heard this one Pere Ubu live show once and before one of the songs David Thomas bellows, "THIS SONG IS ABOUT BUSSES" and i think about it all the time.

I think I need Rolnick's Wake Up every Friday morning. Need.
It lets me know I'm hours away from mentally blocking out work for the weekend.
Thanks forever, JA.
Avatar 9:59am
John Allen:

Rob, so I'll assume that you're not the anonymous guy that emailed me a simple "Good Bye" message while Rolnick was playing..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am
steveo:

it's great that the pidge keeps bringing in new people to alienate, though, right?
Avatar 10:04am
John Allen:

we feel it's an initiative strategy that will prove to work in the long run. now if the pidge could just get more millennials to vote
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am
The Oscar:

There was a stretch during my college radio days when I'd do my oddball freeform show immediately after the hardcore/metal show, which was probably the only show on the station that had a large, dedicated base of listeners. Each week, I'd open up the online statistics page and gleefully watch the confused listeners drop off one by one.

My co worker really did not like Stephanie Richards. I randomly sample WFMU for her throughout the day. She likes J POP and K Pop, though.

This stephanie richards track is pretty damn great!!!!

Just to show balance I'll admit that sometimes when I turn on Clay Pigeon's show I feel like I just rando'ed onto some wrong station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am
crateslinger:

That's not a negative comment, but sometimes before my coffee somebody tries to dump pixie dust on me head to a Juice Newton song, I get all American on they ass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am
The Oscar:

This might be the most hilariously incorrect cover art I've seen on the pop-up player yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am
crateslinger:

Nachem's show back in the day could get pretty wacky too with that crazy upbeat Israeli guitar pop. Sooo happy! That shit was loco.
Avatar 10:52am
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Had to check: according to th'playlist search page, it's been since 2014 since WFMU played one of Murray Saul's mic-check rants about it being Friday. We are overdue, my friends.

There's a 2:30 excerpt of this Kizaki Ondo record on Soundcloud (the cut with the hoarse Japanese vocals) I listen to throughout the day, basically to get my shit sorted.

there needs to be a stream of just this.

Kibaki Ondo: This is like belly dance music for really large people that can only move slowly. Not fat, just 12 feet tall like giant man.
guerilla toss is pretty choice! This reminds me of something. Mirror Mirror on the wall, throwing chestnuts in my path, something something aftermath.....

I'm such an idiot for not seeing Guerilla Toss when they were based in Boston. The group I work with put on concerts for them about once a month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am
