Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am Doug Schulkind:

Greetings Brian in UK and dutchtheo! I officially have a new job. Soon I will be endeavoring to negotiate a flexible schedule that will have me home on Friday mornings. Wish me luck.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:47am Brian in UK:

@ausmanx just had a stove fitted and the tree surgeon will be operating next Tuesday, weather permitting. Some wonderful misty mornings just now.

Thanks, gents! Already beginning the process of trying to figure my next best air slots if I can't keep continuing in this one.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:51am listener james from westwood:

Many congrats on the new gig, and hoping they are indeed flexible on this air slot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Doug Schulkind:

Thanks much, listener james. We shall see. Friday mornings may be tough to carve out with a brand-new job. My second choice may be 3-6p on Fridays, following Uncle Michael. We shall see.

Doug Writing as a European Union listener (at least at the moment until we cast off), Saturday 3am -6am is just great. Give it a thought!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am Doug Schulkind:

Yes it most certainly is (was).
Avatar 9:01am ausmanx:

hope that stove isn't too painful, brian, but i'd recommend a real doctor rather than a tree surgeon for whatever ails you...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:01am Brian in UK:

@dutchtheo a feeble vote, feebly executed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am Sem:

Are those boots made for walking? Diggin' the spinnin' red vinyl big time.

Hello, Doug, the schulkinder hither and yon, and surfacing stream listeners who are wondering what that tap, tap, tap is.

ausmanx, not so funny, I was repairing the shed yesterday working in a confined space. This morning went to check the nesting boxes for eggs and PING went my back.

ausmanx Indoor work, trying to wire up speakers. I should know better.

Doug, three hours of Jamaican singles might prove too much, only one way to find out.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
I think I may have done a set of Jamaican singles during a recent previous Singles Going Steady effort. A worthy endeavor for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Sem:

Brian, not the same problem you had previously w/ your back?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Doug Schulkind:

Please enjoy the added value of singles cover art on today's playlist. Who remembers when I was the first WFMU DJ to put images on his playlist? That was back in about 1996-7.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Doug Schulkind:

This cut sure sounds like "Now I'm a Believer."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Stanley:

Waaaaaaaaaaaah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Doug Schulkind:

Weeeeeeeeeelcome, Stanley!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:16am Brian in UK:

@Sem, yes well remembered, trying to do too much, there is only one foot twixt fence and shed to work in. My own fault, what's new.
  9:17am Listener Robert:

1996-7 you even HAD a playlist online? Not in real time, was it?
  9:17am sinner:

While dancing the doo-dah to Os MinosI believe I just stepped on someone's toes. My apologies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Sem:

Hello, Stanley. NO back problems there, we trust?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am Sem:

Zegê bears a resemblance to a young Paul Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Doug Schulkind:

@Listener Robert
Yes, it was real time. But I went in and added the images after word. Did all the HTML coding myself. This was before WFMU's amazing "Kenzo" playlist database system was instituted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Stanley:

Hi Doug, Sem, Brian and listeners of extremely good taste.
Sem - ythanks for asking, my latest series of physio appontments seem to be working.
I'm looking forward to after work, as the local pub is now doing what look like decent pies with their pints. Their sign has a quote from Beyonce "I have 99 problems but Jarvis Pickle Pies is not one of them".
  9:30am still b/p:

My former boss got a permit to go after moose -- not with love -- in the annual lottery after many years of trying. But no moose did he get.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Sem:

Doug, you must drive the only highway in Newfoundland. Moose aplenty!

Stanley, excellent news, glad to hear you are keeping body and soul (Jarvis Pickle Pies!) together,

The First Record Fair was at the Elks Club in Hoboken.... But Doug "Dog" was at Mary Help of Christians in the E. Village. A building which no longer exists, I think.
Avatar 9:36am glenn:

i've driven through northern ontario a million times, and most of the rest of canada, and never seen a moose or bear. the animal spotting gods hate me.
  9:37am still b/p:

I don't get out in northern woods as often as I used to, but have seen nany many moose at pondside, streamside, roadside, blocking logging roads, and closest encounter at barely arm's length on a Mt. Katahdin trail when moose and I had to delicately pass in opposite directions with no way to step off in tight scrubby growth. Gently...gently...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Sem:

Or, getting it in writing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Doug Schulkind:

Sem, yes just before he really got the Country chip installed properly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am melinda:

I had 3 moose sightings when I lived in Vermont. One was a juvenile I think and I assumed at first that someone's gangly horse was loose and running down the road, the lack of antlers threw me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Doug Schulkind:

Still, I'm huge jealous, melinda.
  11:04am Listener Gregory:

At least "Levy & Finklestein" was not the product of marketing executives... unless they were trying to cash in on the Simon & Garfunkel craze...?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:05am Brian in UK:

Faux Turtles. Wonder if this label ever had Marmalade on it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Doug Schulkind:

Excellent and brave is what I'm shooting for!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am melinda:

I was jealous of my husband who had a black bear sighting. Bears were my thing when I was young.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Doug Schulkind:

That Vykoss track was our one Gabonese number. The rest are from Bénin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Doug Schulkind:

"Bears were my thing" is my new favorite sentence.
Avatar 11:23am northguineahills:

Never seen meese in the wild.... :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Stanley:

I saw wolves in the Himalayas (and they saw me). Fortunately, they went on their way.

The Persians really need to cover that Flock of Seagulls song.
  11:42am Listener Gregory:

We have The Persians, but there's no group called The Iranians.
  11:43am Mr C:

I ran into Freddie North on an airplane! He was doing gospel promotion for Nashboro.

Let's start a group, LG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Doug Schulkind:

Hello, Flock of Dean!
  11:44am JakeGould:

@ListenerGregory: What about “The Sumerians.” I mean let’s be specific here. Iran versus Iraq in a rock off!
  11:44am Dean:

G'morning. Any statues I can poop on?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Doug Schulkind:

In different places, things are flipped. The Iranians/Sumerians would sing "There's gotta be sun in your life to appreciate the rain."

I'm reading a recent article about the fusion of equity and common law, by P.G. Turner. It's a pg. turner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Doug Schulkind:

I'm breaking the rules, because I'm a rebel. That's the kinda guy I am. Can't put me in a box.
