Hiya, Bob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm
Mike Sin:

That whole first July LP is pretty great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Mike! Happy for all the July love here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Matt Clarke:

Howdy bpn! Last night's show is fantastic! Looking forward to the next hour for the ride home.
Agreed Mike! Andrew's show last on the Marmalade put me in a British pop-psych mood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Matt Clarke:

Love the Tremeloes. I can never stop listening
Avatar 7:14pm
bigplanetnoise:

We're almost at "Tremeloes Every Week!" status! Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Mike Sin:

Hello Gaylord! Hello BigPlanetBob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Matt Clarke:

Love that version of Too Many Fish In the Sea by them
Avatar 7:16pm
bigplanetnoise:

Hey Mike! Hi Gaylord! All the cool kids are here!
Avatar 7:17pm
bigplanetnoise:

Yeah - that unexpected fuzz guitar in Too Many Fish is ridiculously great...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Gaylord Fields:

Dave Munden is on my short list of favorite singing drummers, along with Chris Curtis and Honey Lantree.
Avatar 7:19pm
bigplanetnoise:

I'm throwing Dick Dodd into that mix....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Gaylord Fields:

Oh, yes! How neglectful of me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Matt Clarke:

No Micky Dolenz?
Avatar 7:22pm
bigplanetnoise:

Yes - Micky, too! I love this version by Cher.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Gaylord Fields:

I did say "among"! :)
Avatar 7:23pm
bigplanetnoise:

This entire album is sooo great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Matt Clarke:

Agreed bpn! Those LPs are just not on anyone's radar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Mike Sin:

I have a weird relationship with Cilla Black. I think i like the mellower stuff more... sorta the the same with Linda Ronstadt -- sometimes I feel they are just straight up yelling at me.. if that makes any sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Matt Clarke:

I agree Mike. I think her mellow stuff let's her voice shine more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Gaylord Fields:

I agree, Mike. Cilla sounds good in a lower gear (as in "It's for You") but kinda grates on me when she sings big and brassy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Mike Sin:

As usual, Gaylord succinctly sums up what I was trying to say: "Brassy"... perfect.
Avatar 7:44pm
bigplanetnoise:

This album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Matt Clarke:

It's great isn't it?
Avatar 7:45pm
bigplanetnoise:

Indescribably great.
Avatar 7:48pm
bigplanetnoise:

I feel like Ichiban - thankfully - has become the torchbearer for all this kind of stuff. Bands that were WRONGLY written off as too mainstream, relegated to only having their massive hits played by boring programmers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Mike Sin:

Re: "Louie, Go Home" -- the rare instance in which I like the band's re-cut version more than their original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Matt Clarke:

These groups all have endless great tunes...take this group for example.
Avatar 7:51pm
bigplanetnoise:

All the way through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
Matt Clarke:

All the Mamas and Papas LPs are worth having
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Gaylord Fields:

@bpn: Hear, hear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Mike Sin:

And, back in the day (1980s), Mamas and Papas LPs, like Paul Revere and Raiders LPs, were the bargain bin favorites. A lot of great music to be found on the cheap!
Avatar 7:55pm
bigplanetnoise:

I wish you'd just do this show all night. All night.
Avatar 7:55pm
bigplanetnoise:

Right, Mike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm
Matt Clarke:

Thanks bpn and all listening!
Avatar 7:58pm
bigplanetnoise:

That Carol Kaye picked bass. Man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Matt Clarke:

I tried so hard to get that tone. It's in the fingers man ain't it?

Gaylord: Cilla - It’s For You & Step Inside Love are the only way to go.
