Hey there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
coelacanth∅:

the first time i heard mojo workin' was an album my parents had "the hitmakers" which was mostly second-rate covers of other bands' songs. mojo might've been paul revere and the raiders, in their very early days. pretty lame.
i like a lot of their later stuff though.

I had a Paul Revere and the Raiders record when I was ten, traded it for the Mamas and the Papas-not sure where the first one came from

Love these R&B tracks that are just a hair away from gospel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm

This is great by the way, this Lloyd Sims. New to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
chresti:

Avatar 10:19pm
Kris Holmes:

I think he'd been listening to Jackie Wilson
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
coelacanth∅:

paul revere and the raiders called it "mojo workout" and it was smoothed-out; devoid of any funkiness.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
coelacanth∅:

you wouldn't expect being "a gas" to be a compliment but the crowd says it's so
  10:33pm

Warning of methane buildup in active and covered landfills, no doubt.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm

yeah! I don't think I was aware that their name was spiral staircase,
I assumed it was chicago
Avatar 10:42pm
Kris Holmes:

hahahahaha
  10:43pm
still b/p:

I hear the Spiral Staircase song from time to time on oldies radio and I digs it as both a memory and snappy car-singable pop.
I tried to look up Little Henry Lee to find release year. Didn't find date, but found out it might cost ya a hunnerd fifty dollahs to buy the 45!
Avatar 10:46pm
Kris Holmes:

It's around 1967, yes, I sold two copies in the last 6 months for $100 each. I found three at once for $3 each.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
coelacanth∅:

i remember it clearly now. c.1969 i used to steal teenbeat magazines for the song lyrics toward the back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
coelacanth∅:

(more today than yesterday was in there)
  10:48pm
little danny:

Will you be shredding this evening tho?
Avatar 10:51pm
Kris Holmes:

LOL, nope, instagram/facebook, one night only & done hahaha
  10:52pm
still b/p:

My sisters had the magazines occasionally -- Tiger Beat, etc. But they were STRICT with permissions to peruse.
  10:52pm
little danny:

That’s not the answer I was looking for!
Avatar 10:53pm
Kris Holmes:

that is one ugly guitar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
coelacanth∅:

and that was "get ready, i need you" by the geers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm

you didn't have to do what you did, what you did...and I thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
chresti:

was the music explosion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
coelacanth∅:

my older sister had tigerbeat magazines but they were all pictures and gossip, if i remember correctly. teenbeat had the lyrics. when i first started stealing them they were glossy only on the cover - or maybe on select pages; but much of it was like newspaper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
chresti:

I had a magazine with the monkees
  10:58pm
little danny:

Awesome. Gotta be Page on guitar, no?
Avatar 10:58pm
Kris Holmes:

probably
  10:58pm
little danny:

Didn’t know Lulu had such a tough rocker!
Avatar 10:58pm
Kris Holmes:

maybe Beck
  11:00pm
little danny:

Page according to my googling now
  11:00pm
still b/p:

Oh, yah, Tiger Beat was all about the teen idol tizzies and strokey silliness.
Lulu... that's a smile, and a sign-off. 5:40 wake-up. Great stuff. Thanks!
Avatar 11:01pm
Kris Holmes:

yep i also googled, killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
coelacanth∅:

i wish i had all those 'zines now. i remember being so happy when certain songs' lyrics appeared... "hitchin' a ride"; "vehicle"; "cracklin' rosie";"signed,sealed,delivered"....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
coelacanth∅:

'night sb/p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
chresti:

night sb/p!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm
coelacanth∅:

heh, i could be totally wrong with it being teenbeat! maybe it was "hit parader" (?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm
chresti:

Avatar 11:13pm
Kris Holmes:

68
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
