I loved when Dave Letterman lipsync'd to this song on his Summer Happy Time Sunshine Hour episode.( God, I'm a dork!)

Feels so good to be off work. TGICrapDay!

Hi Don-O!

I'm actually working today but all these shows are great accompaniment to otherwise boring proofing and editing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm
Rich in Washington:

It's WEIRD!

Otis Fodder:

I remember this Bob skit from way back. Flashback!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Rich in Washington:

I was just thinking about this album the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
Rich in Washington:

Recently heard a Hound Dog Taylor live album that's just as lively in his stage banter. I can't remember the title, but it's hilarious.
Avatar 6:05pm
Don-O:

I'm just milking this 'Lounge' moniker for all its worth.
Avatar 6:07pm
Otis Fodder:

I love that in the lounge, Sheena has setup several room spots where different vibes are running amok. I was just walking back from a Persuasion Party and passed by a Shack o' Crap and decided to step in. Now I'm 3 drinks deep and settled in for the ride. Oh yea.

Yes. The vibe in Sheena's Jungle Room is palpable. You can cut it with a swizzle stick.
Avatar 6:09pm
Don-O:

Conveniently located between Downtown and The Strip!

It's scary. You're all playing what I'm thinking. I've been listening to the auto-stream quite a bit and my jaw just drops when it seems like it's reading my mind.
Avatar 6:10pm
Mr Fab:

Gotta find that Hound Dog Taylor album!

Don't forget the beatnik's coffeehouse in the basement,
and the drive-n theater out back. We got it ALL, baby.
Avatar 6:11pm
Mr Fab:

Rich, the stream sometimes seems to play tracks connected, (or seem to be connected) to each other, and I"M NOT DOING IT. The stream is developing it's own intelligence.
Avatar 6:12pm
Otis Fodder:

This is truly the bar section of Sheena's Lounge. Georgy is the main lounge area. Greg is on the roof. I'm piped into the toliets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm
Rich in Washington:

Ruh roh! It's going to be self aware! Look out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm
Rich in Washington:

Ah. Phil Proctor was just in town and even stopped by my station, but I was too ill to go anywhere!
Avatar 6:15pm
Don-O:

I got to get his autobio one of these days!
Avatar 6:17pm
Don-O:

Another warning: I was watching/listening to Something Weird's collection of Drive-in intermission films during recording this episode.
Avatar 6:19pm
Don-O:

....and, yes, I said Playboy Lounge instead of 'Club'. My lips are numb at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
Rich in Washington:

Phil's book is pretty good! I have only gotten about 1/2 through it. It's cowritten by Avery Schriber's son. I imagine all he had to do is prompt Phil with a recorder in hand. I once went out with a group of us radio people with Phil and Peter and my friend Ralph said 'how do they put him (Proctor) to bed at night? With a tranquilizer gun?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Rich in Washington:

I miss the Something Weird Channel. Does it still exist? It seemed like some other streaming channel had absorbed it after Mike V. passed away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Early Neil is weird. He doesn't sound like he does more recently.
I liked that Entertainment movie with him in it. I think that's the title.
Avatar 6:23pm
RomanDogBird:

sometimes i feel like early neil hamburger is my favorite thing in the world
Avatar 6:23pm
RomanDogBird:

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, WE HATE YOU!
Avatar 6:24pm
Don-O:

My local library has that DVD. I better pick it up. BTW, neil claims that his voice had damaged from all the cigarette smoke from his engagements.
Avatar 6:26pm
RomanDogBird:

neil

go ahead and SMOKE
Avatar 6:29pm
RomanDogBird:

to quote a guy on rateyourmusic.com: "A classic, early Hamburger joint in which Neil proves in 9min why he's better than most "normal" comedians; and in 2min why he's better than most "normal" Power Electronics musicians."
Avatar 6:31pm

There's a great web site on the brief history of Planet Pimp Records: planetpimp.robertgomez.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Rich in Washington:

ANother artist I've been thinking about lately. Ha!
Avatar 6:34pm
Don-O:

I wish I had enough Planet Pimp sides to make up a good show. Their discography reads like a low-rent early Rhino Records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Rich in Washington:

Gregg Turkington is an interesting cat. he's been involved behind the scenes in lots of really interesting musical and music related projects.
Avatar 6:36pm
Otis Fodder:

I would love to hear a Planet Pimp show. Would love to have a full catalog on my shelf too, my god.
Avatar 6:40pm

Bonzos!!
Avatar 6:41pm

the first one was "Looking for Laughs", released on Turkington's Amarillo label

Hi there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Rich in Washington:

The only Planet Pimp records I have are those Sounds Of 7 inches. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Rich in Washington:

This is fantastic! I've never heard it before!
Avatar 6:43pm
Don-O:

I really don't have enough Planet Pimp to fill a show, unless I over do it with Neil....and those Sounds Of singles...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Rich in Washington:

I love that Jonathan and Darlene are on a staid gospel label.
Avatar 6:47pm
Don-O:

Okay, long track coming. I got to check the laundry....be back in a second!!
Avatar 6:47pm
Otis Fodder:

Wow, they are huh! That's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
Rich in Washington:

I know lots of old time FM DJs used to put on Innagaddadavida when they needed to do their laundry.
Avatar 6:52pm
Don-O:

I got off FB and it seems Mark Hosler left a blue bear at the Weatherman's house as a new roommate earlier today. What are friends for!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Rich in Washington:

He had that same blue bear at his solo gig in Portland! I didn't even think to ask him about it. he had it perched on top of a piece of equipment in his setup.
Avatar 6:54pm

Here's your beatnik poetry reading!
