Hello Stashu and others! Debbie Harry was born a poor orphan child in Miami, Florida but was adopted by a couple in Hawthorne, New Jersey. She was also a go-go dancer at a club in Union City, New Jersey.

Oh boy!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
Phillippe Bastille:

I have a hard time getting my mom to listen, even though she's mostly Polish. My dad's name was Stanley, and was Stashu when he was around the Polish relatives, so she gets confused by a female Stashu

The original folk song of Green Grass was where the term gringo came from. Mexicans would hear Americanos singing the song, and thought they were saying gringo, and started to refer to them as such....

An organ in lieu of an accordion?
  6:42pm
P-90:

@Carmichael: DJ Stashu has never played the Schmenges, has never mentioned the Schmenges, does not respond to comments about The Schmenges. I think it might be because they are not “pure” enough...
  6:42pm
JakeGould:

@Krys: That’s what she said.
  6:45pm
Johnzon:

I say "don't kill shane"... cause I have a good friend named Shane

Wayne Newton was like 15 when he made that record, everyone thought it was a lady singing the first time they heard it.
Avatar 6:45pm

@P-90, it was kind of a joke question, but kinda not. I enjoy parodies of all kinds, since they're based in a tribute of sorts.

I was away from my phone for 30 seconds while you were reading comments so Ill just pretend you read my comment even though there would have been no reason to and that can be my excuse to be happy for now
  6:49pm

Wayne Newton was a regular performer on the Wallace and Ladmo show in Phoenix in the early 60s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm

Ahoy! Molly Ringwald was a surprise guest on TAL and she watched The Breakfast Club with her daughter and it was adorable. Aye, she's a Sacratomato!
  6:50pm
P-90:

@Carmichael: sure, but I have found Stashu’s determined avoidance of acknowledging anything Schmenge-related to be notable. I can’t resist a mystery I guess...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm

I also have heard that she's been doing musicals lately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm

The Shmenges were based on an Edmonton polka host.

we listened to "Happy Bernie's Polka Party" on WCTC (FM, i think!), based in New Brunswick, NJ
on Sundays afternoons -- a good two if not three or four hours of PURE POLKA MUSIC!
it came right after "The Hungarian Radio Hour" . . . and yup, even as a kid, i noticed how even the "happy" Hungarian songs were sooooo DEPRESSING, hah!

Molly Ringwald's dad was a Dixieland Jazz legend. He had a great band that played all the pizza places regularly. There were probably 8 banjo players in that band.
