Compulsory voting here in Australia. $50 fine if you don't. Elections always on a Saturday, but you can postal vote before.
  10:21pm Marc15:

A President who did what the people said? What President was that?
  10:21pm Steiner in Whately:

Hi all. Hey Therese!

@ Aitch: If Voting was mandatory in the United States, Republicans would never be elected to public office. Republicans know this fact. That is why Republicans try to suppress the Right To Vote in some States
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm coelacanth∅:

hey Therese & others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Aitch:

Absolutely. Works here though to moderate the right. We have universal healthcare and proper gun laws as well. It is all actually possible.
  10:35pm wendy del formaggio:

I voted last week. Vermont makes it really easy to vote, and they heavily promote the early voting option. I went to the town clerk's office and it was just like election day, except fewer people. Paper ballot. Fill in the circles next to your candidates. Put the ballot in the machine. Take your sticker and leave. The only difference was, I had to sign a form signifying I was voting early.
It was all very civilized.

Hey! This Blue Cheer song threw me. I haven't changed my clocks yet and I thought it was Jeff's show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Therese:

Perfect song to end on, Therese. I saw Mirah playing songs from this album in DC two weeks ago. She urged people to vote too.
