Makes me wonder what's the fiurthest I've ever walked in a single day ...

Human migration, forced or voluntary has been the human MO since our existence. That's why claiming you're from a certain geographical location due to DNA, is BS. (See when the Celts lived in Asia Minor for one example).

I used to walk a good 12 km/day when I lived in Brooklyn, Now, I'm lucky if I walk 200m (stupid car).

@βrian: It will at least keep the mosquitoes at bay (oh, they're probably all dead in WI. (hope it gets cold enough down here in FL to kill the mosquitoes, but not kill me garden).

Dave in Vermont:

Adriene, do you use Radio Garden to find stations.
Avatar 6:15pm
northguineahills:

(although if we got snow, I call it a win-win).

yeah - first dys in brooklyn and manhattan i walked everywhere - the dollar for the subway was more precious than show leather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
coelacanth∅:

i've definitely walked 9 miles in a day many times; but i'm sure i've walked more than that hiking in the woods or the apalachian (sp?) trail, or even in nyc.

@Dave in Vermont - sometimes but not generally, radio.garden gets pretty sparse outside of Europe and North America.

The movement of Orthodox "Greeks" from Turkey to the Balkans and the reverse of the Muslim "Turks" in 1923 was almost as large as the muslim-hindu interchange in Punjabi in the partition of 1947,

(although there were more population movements in the rest of Pakistan/India/Bangledesh, Punjabi was the epicenter).

For a few months I walked 6 miles RT to and from work, but I remember one day walking 17 miles in NY. Near Saranac Lake, I think. That was a schlep, but a pleasant one.

Ach. Muscle loss is the worst. I had to use a bicycle trainer for months to recover after an injury.

I still can't figure what inspired me to look at a flaking basement wall for an hour a day ...

Factoid of the day: There are many Hmong who fought with the US military and later emigrated to the US.

But they've never been offered Veteran's benefits.

Hi Adriene- !st time I'm really paying strict attention to your show. Its very special-how we all really are one-what a universality! I'm an art curator-and your focus is addressed prominently in many visual artists practice. So good to hear your take and contribution to this important subject. Not just because of the President in office, but it has always been a strong component of who we all are. Love the music- Thanks Always- Bruce
