I just finished dialing my dj radio rig in and recording my next show. For those interested setup = 4ch dj mixer, 2 turntables, ipad/traktor/controller, sp404 sampler/goose mic. I tried using digital vinyl but i kinda hate it and love using traktor on my ipad and real vinyl.

I've allways used low budget, mostly second hand stuff, working my way around windows' bugs :-) :-)

I'm doing some craft projects and listening. Kinda nice to have a long mix to just zone out on while you're doing something with your hands.

Ha, "Bad Trip" was good.

I met the illustrator that did a bunch of Zappa's album covers like Rubin & The Jets.. Cal Schenkel he lives out in Astoria Oregon.

Mr Fab:

What a strange choice for a Beatles cover for Ella to cover. Youd think she'd do "Something," or something
Avatar 4:11pm
Mr Fab:

Cal Schenkel! So many classic album covers besides Zappa: Tom Waits, Beefheart, even Wild Man Fischer

Martinibomb:

he's got a little art shop/studio setup in astoria so if you stop in he'll chat with you for awhile and you can watch him work.

crossing my fingers that our internet holds up today during my show. It's been spotty all week.

Astoria NY, or Astoria OR?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, I see that now. Sorry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Rich in Washington:

My old boss and graphic design mentor retired up in Astoria, before he got ALS and passed away.
That's actually a place that I wouldn't mind retiring in. They've also got a KRAB Nebula type community radio station, KMUN, so I could do late night radio for other old codgers.

Mr Fab:

I was looking where Astoria is in OR, and had to laugh when I saw all the other place names around: Long Beach, Grand Rapids, Pittsburg, Rockaway Beach. Can't Oregon invent original names?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
Rich in Washington:

All the good beach names were taken. I spent most of my summers as a young kid at Rockaway Beach. I didn't know there was another until I heard the Ramones song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Rich in Washington:

But Astoria is a sort of grungy fishing/logging/port town. It's got some pretty, rustic houses, hence the use of it in film locations (Kindergarten Cop, Goonies, The Accused, etc.).
Also, ex-Nirvana dude Krist Noviselic (sp?) lives there and does or did a late night radio show on KMUN which was pretty good.

Been meaning to listen to more Broadcast. At the time I thought of em as a poor man's Portishead or Stereolab, but ppl rave about em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Is Broadcast the group that did the soundtrack to Berberian Studios?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
Rich in Washington:

I just had to lean over 3 feet to grab the LP. It is. Still haven't shelved most of my Halloween stuff.
Avatar 5:09pm
Mr Fab:

Still haven't shelved most of the stuff I pulled for the Sheena stream. The office is a nightmare. I need an intern!
