I’m awake... for a few more minutes. Still haven’t yet caught up on your archives from Tuesday morning and night! They’re next on the list....
  12:37am
Dean:

Not asleep. Okay, I'll chime in. The Boyd Rice reminded me of a once-in-a-lifetime show at Kelbo's, a now defunct Polynesian restaurant in LA on Pico Blvd., early '80s, where NON performed, unbeknownst to the proprietors of the venue. The cover was a "surf party" featuring music by Annette Funicello, Beach Boys, etc., and a buffet of barbecued ribs and so forth. At some point, the hosts closed the door to the dining room, wedging a chair under the knob. NON proceeded to perform the most ear-shredding hash I'd heard in some time, then or since. When asked to deliver an encore, Rice could only mutter that he'd broken his gear.

I’m listening. I’m mostly lying down when listening to WFMU, and not participating to comments, because I’m usually in pain (sorry, but it’s true). Anyway, I’m always up for more Blurred & Obscured. p.s.: Boyd Rice sux.

Great early hours radio programming: Richard Meltzer's Hepcats from Hell on LA's KPFK. His delivery oozed the absence of street life.

1) That's an approval rating, not a "he's great" rating. 2) Much of what is abhorrent about the guy is his high-school-ish jerk-off personality. 3) Withdrawal from Afghanistan? Not bad. Not bad at all.

Jherweg, I had nowhere near 4000 CDs but put mine in three piles. One pile to give away, one pile to keep, and one pile to keep just the discs and the paper inserts which I put in sleeves. Saved a lot of space.

Hi Jonathan - longtime listener, first time commenter here - just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to so much great stuff over the last few years.

I always listen in the daytime from the archives while at work and I've really enjoyed your stories, humour, montages, and selections. Really hoping you make a regular return one day but it's been great binging on the shows from your xmas marathon.

All the best to you & cheers from Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island!
