Hi everyone and welcome to this week's Flange - featuring those lovable Mop Tops *after* they left that band they were in ;-)
Enjoy the show, join in the chat and don't forget our Facebook Group: www.facebook.com...

I am going to be listening from the kitchen, cooking an elaborate and hopefully hangover-defeating breakfast, but plan on being back in time to hang out on the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

As long as you detail the breakfast later then I'm happy with that! ;-)

Quack quack!!

Something slightly different for you all this week :-)

I love songs about death!! I really do.

Bring on the Pete Best!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Peace and love ... Peace and love ... ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

One of Paul's best songs I think :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Dutchman Jan:

agree
Avatar 1:07pm
Mr Fab:

Would love to hear songs from "All Things Must Pass" minus the Phil Spector production. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it smothers some great rock n roll, e.g.: "What I Life"'s killer guitar riff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

What is Life is AMAZING. :-) I omitted it just because I didn't want to only please Pass songs but I wish I'd included it now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Please??? Play
Avatar 1:09pm
Mr Fab:

"McCartney" is a surprisingly half-assed album. "Maybe I'm Amazed" really stands out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Absolutely. Certainly compared to "Ram" which is outstanding. I still have my father's copy of that LP :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

And how are we all this fine day? :-)
Avatar 1:16pm
Mr Fab:

I know George and Ringo are from Liverpool obviously, but they lived here in LA for so long I think of them as locals (George even married a mexican girl, how LA is that?!), and I kind of think of those Liverpool entities as some kind of mythical creatures from old newsreels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

And ... they all ended up married to American ladies :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ringo's accent is ... well it's something of a marvel now isn't it? ;-)
  1:18pm
Rich in Kitchenton:

McCartney II has really grown on me. it's kind of peculiar in an endearing way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love "Waterfalls" - ooo that's a lovely song.
Avatar 1:21pm
Mr Fab:

Ringo answers his own door at his Beverly Hills place. He'll tell you to fuck off, but hey, wouldn't that be an honor? Something for the tourists!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think I'd faint
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Webhamster Henry:

Hi GG! Any tunes from some of the fifth beatles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I do touch on that later ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Paul turned up in Liverpool in June to do the James Corden thing about 9 days after I left (my partner treated me to a birthday holiday there). And he joked that if I'd seen him I'd still be crying NOW. Which is true.
Avatar 1:25pm
Mr Fab:

hi Henry! I actually do have a Pete Best album. And some Billy Preston albums. Apparently Tony Sheridan recorded a buncha stuff, but don't know it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

The wonderful Billy Preston :-) Will It Go Round in Circles. Love that track.

Breakfast accomplished!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Rich in Washington:

Well, I have to eat it first, but here I am at a real live computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

What's for breakfast today, Granpa?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
Rich in Washington:

I diced and fried some leftover bell peppers and onion and garlic and potatoes in olive oil and then fried 3 eggs sunnyside up in the middle of it. I guess it's my traditional Friday breakie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love the myth of Paul being that sacchirine one ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Rich in Washington:

One king hell hangover at the moment. Hope this breaks the hex.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I could just go a fried breakfast about now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Fried breakfasts were always my hangover cure of choice. Nothing beats grease!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
Rich in Washington:

I also got a variety of hot sauces as a Solstice gift from our housemates, which I am eager to try out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes. For me, it seems to be grease, salt and hot sauces, not necessarily in that order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Webhamster Henry:

I was thinking Stu Sutcliffe and George Martin. And Neil Innes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I sweat to God but Ram is one of the finest albums ever made.
Avatar 1:32pm
Mr Fab:

A good time last night, Rich? And why were we not invited?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I once .... let's just say the barmaid put up a new bottle of JD because of me ... anyway, the next day. Oof. Really just oof. And then - fried breakfast. Human. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, it was a much needed reconnection, with our house being somewhat empty of visitors for the first time this holiday season. And wine needed drinking and glasses needed breaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

That sounds like a good reason to drink much wine to me :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Rich in Washington:

and then I am awakened at 2am by my phone SCREAMING at me and FLASHING RED. It was the emergency alert system. It was actually quite terrifying. I thought captain bonespurs finally flipped his wig and pushed the button.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ok - the next track is going to make me freak out and wave my arms and smile like an idiot because I love it :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Emergency alert system??? That sounds horrifying!!!
Avatar 1:36pm
Mr Fab:

Are there any Stu Sutcliffe recordings? George Martin certainly did some cool stuff. I like his "Ray Cathode" Space-Age single. McCartney produced some Bonzos and featured them on their "Magical Mystery Tour" show, but don't know if he qualifies as a 5th Beatle. But of course, i'd play him anyway!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There's a Kaiserkeller recording which I *think* has Stu on it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Webhamster Henry:

Klaus Voorman has recordings, but not singing, I think.
Avatar 1:42pm
Mr Fab:

my wife texted me: "Georgy's playing George"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm

DJ GeorgyGirl:

Two Beatles plus Badfinger = Magic ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
Dutchman Jan:

Seems I know too little about Ringo Starr ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

"Ringo" is a brilliant album :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Dutchman Jan:

I'm learning again, Georgy! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

:-)
Avatar 2:00pm
Mr Fab:

I'm probably one of the few people who made it to "Sometime in New York City"'s second disk, but "Scum Bag" is a great bit of proto-punk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

John kind of had a point when he said about the B-52s "Mother - they're doing your act!". What would 80s John have been like?
Avatar 2:03pm
Mr Fab:

"Oh My My" sounds like a James Last record - all the backup singing, handclaps, kinda cheezy song. Which is fine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Weirdly .. I do believe I have a James Last version. ;-)
Avatar 2:04pm
Mr Fab:

I would hope that '80s John would have been a bit more raw than the overly-polished "Double Fantasy." Some of those Dakota tapes are nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Just completely embracing experimenting and synths and all that :-)
Avatar 2:07pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, I love "Walking on Thin Ice." He was def leaning in a more experimental direction.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

CRAFT!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Dutchman Jan:

love the wobbly mellotron!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm

Walls and Bridges was one of my first bought lp's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Webhamster Henry:

Can you play some John Lennon tracks without the slapback echo on them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

George and some sitar - who'd a thunk it, eh? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

And that, ladies and germs, was my contribution to the Fifth Beatle discussion ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Dutchman Jan:

and another W&B track <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My fave John track :-)
Avatar 2:40pm

Yoko was as Fifth Beatles-y as anyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm

never thought of my fav JL track, but this one is on the shortlist for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm

I love that you can hear George harmonising on this :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm

yes
Avatar 2:44pm

I'm probly the one guy who likes Paul's "Liverpool Sound Collage" album, but there's cool stuff on it, I'm tellin ya.

djbearrob:

I was lucky enough to see Wings and also Ringo's All Stars (the year with Ian Hunter!) Unfortunately I never saw John or George in concert...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Dutchman Jan:

@ M fab I must admit that's a gab in my listening experience. I'll close it soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

WOW!!! Wings always looked like they put on a hell of a show - what tour was that? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Dutchman Jan:

gab = gap :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Almost at the end of the show, cats and kittens. Thank you for indulging me in this slight deviation - normal service resumes next week, I promise! And there's even some Dave :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Don't forget to stick around for Otis - who is currently in the air I beleive
  🍷 2:48pm
djbearrob:

Wings Over America. Saw them in San Francisco. Paul's The Fireman albums are pretty fab too.
Avatar 2:48pm
Mr Fab:

I saw Paul at Dodger Stadium a few years ago (Spacebrother Greg was there too) but alas, not Wings. A bit ahead of my time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
ChrisB.:

Love hearing these Wonderwall tracks. New to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Dutchman Jan:

I wonder how many Otisses we'll hear today...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm

Wings over America??? I saved all my pocket money for a month to buy the triple album of that - which I still have :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm

Thank you all for being here and being so lovely - :-)

Hearing this song blaring out of a PA system left a major impression on my very young self.

It's just magnificent. It's only pipped to the post for me by my play out track. Which. Is. Everything. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm

Have a very sharp youth memory of this song as well!
