I go way back on Happy Rhodes; was friends with Happy Rhodes fan number one, who started the Ecto interest internet list, which ended up being a large list (like twenty-five years ago) dedicated to women’s art rock for anything “ecto”-like, i.e., Kate Bush and her progeny (I argued for Joni Mitchell as a grandmother of Ecto, and she (forgot her name, unfortunately) agreed. She was very agreeable for anything ecto-like. Kristin Hersh to Marianne Nowottny.

It is kind of interesting how listening to things nobody else bothers to listen to is a fairly good heuristic for finding interesting things to listen to. *confused by what I just said
Avatar 4:19am

TKA screams “eighties production”
Avatar 4:19am
BronwynB:

@spaghetti head: that makes total sense, oftentimes it's the qualities that cause them to be overlooked that make them great
Avatar 4:20am
BronwynB:

@scraps: i <3 80s production

i mean, drone single test tones, oscillators and 12 minutes of induced static has its place to, i guess...

=Louder than Love= (the TKA album) has the same title as Soundgarden’s second album. Soundgarden’s Louder than Love, 1989; TKA’s Louder than Love, 1990.

Listener Bop Monroe:

very welcome! g'nite everyone!
Avatar 4:27am

good night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28am

In hindsight they should have called it Louder than Louder than Love (?) I am totally in the mood for Lisa Lisa, now!
Avatar 4:28am
BronwynB:

@scraps: yes, and soundgarden's gets the "louder than love" wikipedia page while TKA's is stuck with "louder than love (TKA album)", i guess bc soundgarden's is more famous or maybe because it came first
Avatar 4:29am
BronwynB:

@spaghetti head: ah i should have brought some lisa lisa but alas, no. next time though!!

  5:03am

Stupid question- is it new or old? Looking up some of the artists I just can’t tell. The 80s and 90s- are they really back or just in my mind!??!?
  5:06am

Omg I am loving fmu. Thanks !!!
Avatar 5:12am
Scraps:

Soundgarden’s Louder than Love is just okay, but their next album, =Badmotorfinger=, is great, great, great, one of my fifty greatest rock album eveh.

(Most people say their next album, =Superunknown=, is their best [it has “Black Hole Sun”]. It’s good.)
Avatar 5:15am
BronwynB:

@s_rah: freestyle was mostly popular from the late 80s to the late 90s but still lives on today. everything i played in that set was from between 1987-1999
Avatar 5:15am
BronwynB:

and im glad you're enjoying our crazy lil station :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17am

I think Superunknown was the CD that looked like a record but Pearl Jam had the song called "Spin the Black Circle" and if I'm right I feel guilty for knowing this.
