So long as it's arrived, that's all that matters!

Yeah, that "Sex Chipmunks" song makes me laff.

The Year of Sheena has begun!
Avatar 2:02pm
worldsworstrecords:

Indeed it has!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
DJ Jan:

And my sincere apologies that I completely seem to ignore that fact in my show :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
DJ Jan:

The Baby Bugs go well after the last song of the automated DJ
Avatar 2:03pm
Mr Fab:

Well, this is perfect, coming right after the Chipmunks parody. Sheena knows what she's doin.
Avatar 2:04pm
worldsworstrecords:

Lol! I see I've programmed the same Peter Wyngarde track that was playing 20 minutes ago!

Lots of old ladies on today's show

ARGH! Back to work after two weeks and there's a steady stream of people coming into my office needing stuff...
Here now for the rest of the show, hopefully!

DJ Jan, are you spinning for Georgy next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
DJ Jan:

Yesss, both proud and nervous now
Avatar 2:16pm
Mr Fab:

The music to "My Daddy, He Died in 1969" had a triumphant, anthemic quality completely at odds with the defeatist, depressed attitude of the lyrics. But I guess song-poem composers don't do 'goth.'
Avatar 2:16pm
worldsworstrecords:

It uses the same music bed as hundreds of other tracks issued by Halmark
Avatar 2:19pm

Good luck Jan... I'm sure it will be a blast

DJ Jan:

thanks Darryl! :-)

Mr Fab:

I have "Aah, Music" on a comp of private-press records called "Enjoy The Experience," which I've been listening to again lately coincidentally. (If it is a coincidence...Are you in my head, Darryl?!)

I may be...

I feel like *My daddy* is going to be with me for the next few days :-D

that's good news MB
Avatar 2:27pm
Mr Fab:

That Pepsodent ad is proto-hip hop! Man, makes me wanna get back into making mashups...
Avatar 2:27pm
worldsworstrecords:

This is Miss Miller, not Mrs, although Miss was a decade or so older than Mrs Miller
Avatar 2:29pm
worldsworstrecords:

This Old Ladies in 1966 trio was a happy accident, not planned at all...
  2:31pm
Martinibomb:

@MrFab how were you using to make stuff with with in the past?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
DJ Jan:

It's been quite a while since I've last heard this one. I had to laugh instantly!!!
  2:32pm
Martinibomb:

@MrFab.. ug need more coffee. I meant How were you making stuff in the past? i.e. what software etc..
Avatar 2:32pm
worldsworstrecords:

Then my work is done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Rich in Washington:

Mrs. Miller reminds me of my dear departed maternal Grandmother. Also, my wife's grandmother, who would often spontaneously break into warbly singing, not unlike Mrs. Miller.
Avatar 2:34pm
Mr Fab:

There were more then a few inept old lady singers out there, but Mrs Miller is bouffant-and- shoulders above em all.

i used to record, mostly under the name RIAA, sound collage/mashup-y stuff using AcidPro. I think I still have a CD of it, but my PC desktop that I need to run it died a couple years ago.
  2:36pm
Martinibomb:

I think I have some Peter Wyngarde in my mix today too
Avatar 2:36pm
worldsworstrecords:

lol! There must be something in the water
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Rich in Washington:

I've always loved this one. It's so odd.
  2:38pm
Martinibomb:

@MrFab ah cool! I did a ton with Acid too - Acid was pretty cool. I still have v.3 installed because I like the sound of it's timestretch
Avatar 2:40pm
worldsworstrecords:

Odd is right, Rich... and incredibly 'queer'
Avatar 2:41pm
Mr Fab:

it's amazing how the DJs on this station often play songs or artists that were just on the stream - you'd think with over 13,000 tracks that wouldn't be too likely.

Acid was easy for me to use. Lots of fun. I think Vicki People Like Us uses ProTools, which is way too intimidating for me to attempt to learn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Otis Fodder:

Exactly, who's that knocking on my door?? More clients coming back from the holidays. Go away clients, I'm trying to listen to Sheena's Stream!
Avatar 2:42pm
Mr Fab:

Leg! Was so happy to see him live ages ago. Was as loopy as you'd expect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
DJ Jan:

Indeed, we can't afford to work, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Otis Fodder:

I keep going back to Neville Thumbcatch on the Wyngarde album. RPM did a nice CD reissue years back.
Avatar 2:43pm
worldsworstrecords:

Neville Thumbcatch is awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Otis Fodder:

@Fab/M-Bomb - ACID was my go-to program post-trackers and pre-Live in the early 2000s. I remember that unique sounding timestretch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Otis Fodder:

Wow, this is the "Smile" album from the 6th dimension.
Avatar 2:46pm
worldsworstrecords:

It's something else, isn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Otis Fodder:

That vox effect!
  2:47pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab/Otis yeah I started on octamed on my Amiga with 8bit sampler. Then moved to Acid then protools then ableton. Protools isn't that hard. Just use only the tools you need/restrict workflow so you don't get overwhelmed at first
Avatar 2:52pm
worldsworstrecords:

Did you know that, before recording this, Los Punk Rockers were a Beatles cover band called Asfalto?
  2:54pm
Martinibomb:

Nope! googling them...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
Otis Fodder:

@Fab/M-Bomb - My chain was --> Tascam Porta 80s -> Tascam 644 90s - FastTracker to MakingWaves 90s -> ACID 00's -> Live
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Rich in Washington:

While I've never made anything of any real note from it, I used to have a couple of digital delay units hooked up to my television's A/V chain and would just make annoying loops from things on satellite television, like a music loop and looping dialog. I wasn't aware of them back then, but listening to some of it now, it sounds rather like early Severed Heads. I just had almost no control over what the input was, so that was part of the magic.

Avatar 2:57pm
worldsworstrecords:

haha! It's true Jan!
Avatar 2:57pm
Mr Fab:

Well, if you wanna go way back to the pre-digital days - I used an Akai floppy disk sampler, and an 8 track recorder in the '90s.
Avatar 2:58pm

You can't beat a whistler
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Rich in Washington:

There's also a great Slovene punk band called Pankrti who did a song that more or less ripped off the Anarchy in the UK riff for song called Bandiera Rossa.
Avatar 2:59pm
worldsworstrecords:

Ohh... I'll check that out Rich
Avatar 2:59pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm

HA! I also had an Akai floppy sampler! Like seven or more floppies to make a simple song.
Avatar 3:00pm

Stay tuned for Jan's debut!
