Kind of like taking your parents record collection and getting drunk in a Radio Shack. Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Garage Punk, Regular Punk and Old-Fashioned Weirdos. Hopefully you have the patience for this fast-paced sonic impatience. Not recommended for the fan of 4 minute songs.

Avatar 2:07pm
recordrouletteclub:

@Rich The record store recommendations were right on! Bought lots of 45's at Mississippi and Exiled! Big Thanks!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Rich in Washington:

Yay! Glad that worked! Mississippi's fun, isn't it?

So much crazy, dark country music from the 60s/70s era.
Avatar 2:11pm
recordrouletteclub:

@Rich I need to find MORE of that stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Rich in Washington:

That Twisted Tales from the Vinyl Wastelands series is pretty great, but it seems like it's mostly 50s/60s stuff.

I mean I love Eddie Noack and all that...but I know there's gotta be more.
Avatar 2:15pm
Mr Fab:

Hey ho, lets go! “Bloodstains” is a great way to kick off...anything, really. “Rodney on the roq vol 1” was probably the first punk record i bought
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah. There's this Hank Snow record that's pretty common in thrift stores - When Tragedy Struck - which is pretty good for sheer misery and carnage. Also, some of Johnny Paycheck's early singles. Really dark. I've played his Pardon Me (I've Got Someone to Kill) often.

Oh, I can't believe I don't have those Rodney comps! I remember having a tape of it in high school. Also, a buddy who'd spend summers in OC with his grandparents - he'd tape Rodney's shows and bring 'em up and give them to me.
Avatar 2:21pm
recordrouletteclub:

@Rich I used to do that in the 90's with Dave The Spazz on WFMU!!
