The store keeps showing up on those 'best record stores in the US', etc. Not sure why. I guess it's sort of the newbie 'vinyls' aficionado's idea of a cool, urban store. Not to knock them, but there are so many better stores in town.

Rich in Washington:

I think there was this prog-rock snob thing about MB, where they were considered too pop for the cool kids. I actually like their stuff, especially the first three album.

I guess that's what I like about this stream and its shows - no 'guilty pleasures'. We're all guilty!

Moodies, like ELO, were never 'cool' when I was in school. At that time, they were guilty pleasures as a kid. And totally, now, no guilty pleasures.

That sounds interesting, Archivist Vivian!

Guilty. As in the Mike Oldfield song.

I listened to Out of the Blue over and over as a kid, and secretly liked Xanadu.

Or the Barry-Barbara duet, Guilty.

I was fortunate enough that I loved Xanadu so much that a lot of the kids in school ignored me....to a point.

Me too Rich. Could not admit to anyone liking Xanadu in the early 80s, I actually would have the tape in another area of my backpack, not next to stuff like Maiden or Zep.

'Guilty', title track, a cool guilty pleasure!!

Same in the UK - ELO were not seen as cool at all! Which is ridiculous as they're bloody brilliant :-)

I wasn't ignored because of my musical taste until 8th grade, when I declared my love for Devo. I remember getting into minor fisticuffs at recess over it.

Speaking of DEVO, I recieved some rare Mark Mothersbaugh instrumentals. I need to sift through them still.

That's not Charlton Heston speaking, it's James Gregory (Inspector Luger - Barney Miller) as Gen Ursus from Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
