Franco Twinkie:

Kris, in sunny So. Cal there are lots of guys who use to be in known bands doing all sorts of unlikely things to pay their mortgage. I could tell you stories...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Franco Twinkie:

I saw Davie Allen and The Arrows opening for Korla Pandit at a drive-in movie theater. In So, Cal, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Little Danny:

God I love the Astronauts' surf stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Little Danny:

Whoa, Franco, when was this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Franco Twinkie:

Danny, Batman is my fave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Little Danny:

Oh heck yes
Avatar 10:46pm
Kris Holmes:

reminding me to watch that Korla Pandit doco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Franco Twinkie:

It was this one off thing called The Azuza Palooza. Early 90's, I think. I talked to Korla and got his picture with a Leslie organ speaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Little Danny:

Astronauts were from Boulder, CO. And their party rock 'n' roll vocals were great, mate
Avatar 10:52pm
Kris Holmes:

who am i thinking of that had weak vocals & i am always disappointed? Some other land locked surf group, I guess?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Little Danny:

That's a hell of a get, Franco! Awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Franco Twinkie:

I like the Astronaunt version of I Know You Rider. Dave Hassinger engineered the Astronauts at RCA in Hollywood. Produced the first Dead album in the same studio.
Avatar 10:52pm
Kris Holmes:

Guilty pleasure coming up, sorry not sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Little Danny:

Ahhh, that totally makes sense. Hassinger's productions had such a humongous boom. I believe his credits also include the Jefferson Airplane and the early Electric Prunes
Avatar 10:53pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm

Avatar 10:54pm
Kris Holmes:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Franco Twinkie:

Danny, Dave also worked on Da Capo by Love, and did an early version of Eight Miles High that wasn't used for some silly ass reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Franco Twinkie:

Cut at United Western. Same room as Frank Sinatra and ...The Seeds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
Little Danny:

Ah, wow, d'ya know where I can hear that "Eight Miles High," Franco?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
Little Danny:

Maybe Kris'll get to the Byrds shortly
Avatar 11:18pm
Kris Holmes:

high possibility
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Franco Twinkie:

Danny, It's on this thing called Never Before that came out in the early '90's. I still see it around for not to much. The title is from a killer Gene Clark song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Little Danny:

Luckily I have that album, Franco! Incredible version of "Why" on it as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
Little Danny:

Regret getting rid of this Beck 45
Avatar 11:28pm
Kris Holmes:

his guitar tone is total shredfest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Franco Twinkie:

Another killer L.A. Band. Saw Paul Johnson playing in Griffith Park.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm

How did the cat transport work out?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
Franco Twinkie:

This was very popular at Torch Junior High.
  11:50pm
Dean:

And the miserable drama of working with the US of A medical care system. OMG, what a massive fuckup.

Cat howled a bit and is now ensconced in El Cerrito at a cat B&B. She'll join her friend, my mom, on the weekend.
  11:52pm
Dean:

Kudos to (I can't believe I'm writing this) Southwest Airlines for a dedicated effort toward making my travel as smooth as possible. They did a great job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

A performance artist opened a show doing a dubstep karaoke "War Pigs" and made the audience participate... good fun... (last weekend).
