STOP HITTING YOURSELF!

Finally snowing here! I either won't make it home from work or will be stuck at home if I do.

Hey Rich!

How's it goin', spacebrother?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
Rich in Washington:

That track was incredible!

Thanks!

It's wet here, but the tunes are wetter!

I'll bet Werner Herzog is kicking himself for not using this song for Little Deiter Needs to Fly.
Avatar 7:06pm
spacebrother:

Gotta look that one up.
Avatar 7:07pm

I dig this "Ghost Rider" version!!
Avatar 7:07pm
recordrouletteclub:

Is that a guitar / whistle / or theremin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
Rich in Washington:

I think it's a stringed instrument, like a tabletop stringed thing, but I am not sure.
Avatar 7:08pm
spacebrother:

THanks Henry! I don't know if he could afford a theremin, so probably keyboard?
Avatar 7:08pm
spacebrother:

I'll go with Rich.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Rich in Washington:

I think it's one of those instruments that allows bending behind the bridge, like that Chinese instrument that I can't recall at the moment. I think there's a whole compilation of that instrument.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm
Rich in Washington:

CAB CALLOWAY COVERED THIS? Crazy!
Avatar 7:11pm
spacebrother:

Like a Sirod(?)
Avatar 7:11pm
spacebrother:

Freaked me out too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Rich in Washington:

Kind of? I think. It almost looks like a Western steel guitar - a sort of tabletop harp. I could be completely wrong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
Rich in Washington:

Was it you that played the Homer and Jethro parody of History..?
Avatar 7:13pm
spacebrother:

Yes, I think so. "Great Men Repeat Themselves"
Avatar 7:13pm
recordrouletteclub:

I guess it also could've been a synth preset
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Rich in Washington:

Zither. That's the word I'm looking for. I believe it's a Đàn tranh. I used to follow a friend's show and she would play lots of weird SE Asian music.
Avatar 7:15pm
spacebrother:

I'd like to hear more of that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm

Frank was only in it for the money.

Most assuredly for that assignment.

How much later was the Mothers' album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm

Bat bucks were huge! Even Sun Ra got into the act.
Avatar 7:23pm
spacebrother:

Yup, I have that track too. Surreal.
Avatar 7:24pm
spacebrother:

After Burt Ward, I think I'm gonna kill myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Rich in Washington:

I had the Dan and Dale single for years (sans cover) before I realized the Sun Ra connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
Rich in Washington:

This is a really cheery sounding song for its subject matter.
Avatar 7:25pm
spacebrother:

I only know it from an mp3 I snorted up a few years back.
Avatar 7:26pm
spacebrother:

There have to be other cheery suicide songs.
Avatar 7:26pm
spacebrother:

The mp3 of Sun Ra Batman I meant.

I was just telling Fab this morning about a crazy Tex Ritter track which I cannot locate on the youtoobs. I've I ever get it, I will share.

CB songs and records are somewhat fun for me, in that my father was a trucker when he was in his 20s and really, REALLY hated the trucker/CB craze of the 70s. There's something funny about them to me now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
Rich in Washington:

This is great!
Avatar 7:31pm

He was a hipster trucker.

Always dug Burl’s Ugly Bug Ball too
Avatar 7:35pm
spacebrother:

That's also a favorite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Rich in Washington:

We had some of Burl's children's records growing up but my brother and I destroyed them by laying either 7" or 10" over the top of them to force them to loop when the stylus hit them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Rich in Washington:

This is kind of crazy! If you're wife's at all like mine, I can understand this driving her nuts.
  7:41pm
tw2sheds:

Wasn't she one of the Catwomen?
Avatar 7:41pm
spacebrother:

I had Burl on some of my kids' records too.
For some reason, i didn't realize he was the snowman in the Rankin Bass Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer special too.
Avatar 7:41pm

Yes, She was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm

I think all of us Jungle Room DJs play lots of music that drive our S/Os crazy. Just sayin'.

Hi everyone! First time tuning in, nice to hear Eloise Trio.
Avatar 7:45pm

Actually, my wife likes a lot of the music I play. For instance she's always singing "Legendary Chicken Fairy" to herself.
Avatar 7:45pm
spacebrother:

Welcome, Melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I made an ID spot for my KBOO show with my wife running into the room screaming about 'THAT TERRIBLE RACKET!'. and then slamming the door. She got into the character with lots of enthusiasm and hit it on the first take.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
melinda:

Cactus Pryor was a big local personality when I was growing up in Austin. assuming it's the same one on the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi Melinda!
Avatar 7:47pm

Yes, Melinda it's the same guy.
Avatar 7:47pm
spacebrother:

Cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Rich in Washington:

my missus comes from a family of musical theater and church singing people, so most 'incorrect' music is sort of grating for her. We do like some of the same music, but the overlap is pretty small, yet negotiable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Rich in Washington:

That Cactus song was nuts! I'd love to know more about him.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm

the music on this is kind of crazy. I hadn't noticed that before.
Avatar 7:52pm
spacebrother:

It was music directed by Shelley Manne!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Uh, I did and I didn't! We were terrible to our records! Playing them at the wrong speed, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow! That's crazy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
Rich in Washington:

That's the one I remember being really peculiar.
