Hi Joe, great set so far!
Avatar 12:24pm Marc Francis:

I think they changed it to Parkay Quartz because it was only two of the four band members on that record. I think I remember reading that somewhere...

I thought I was done crying about this.
  12:38pm Tim 07030:

I’ve had the privilege of working all of the Kill the Holidays parties at Monty Hall. The amount of love and happiness in the room at those things was unbelievable. God Bless X.Ray, Jonesy and the IBJ. And this is perfect, Joe.
  12:39pm Tim from LH:

Like many, Jones and X-Ray were my gateway to WFMU. He will be missed, big time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm kentuckywoman:

Oh man, I haven't heard this song in years!
Avatar 12:42pm Carmichael:

I only knew of another version. Spanky and Our Gang?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm SSS:

I think X ray would love nothing more than to be thought of as a gate way drug. Their show was mine as well.

  12:47pm reno:

Puke jesus hearing that prick gene ween and memories of hanging out with them for years lost in their intellectual torpor in the so-called drug-clouded pod is pure puke worthy ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm JG:

I'm a New Yorker (well, Staten Islander) NYC has more or less disappeared. Now I feel like Jersey's disappearing. X.ray took a big chunk of it with him.
  12:48pm battleaxe:

X-Ray would go on and on about Taylor Ham. I finally ordered some to be shipped to me in CA. I'm a vegetarian now and I'm not sure if the Ham is responsible...thanks just the same X-Ray! You are missed!!!!!
  12:49pm KP in DC:

I thought that intro was “This Wheel’s on Fire.”
  12:50pm mkhz:

  12:51pm Alan:

Had my first Taylor ham and egg sandwich today. Purchased it on a trip to FL last November while wearing their shirt no less! Was saving it for a special occasion. God damn, I did not want it to be this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Lizardner Dave Somethingorother:

It's amazing that he went DURING HIS SHOW yesterday. That guy knew how to make an exit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm BnowB:

He would have had it no other way. Doing what he loved.

Enjoying a snow day at home with my FMU family on this special day.
Thanks Joe.
  1:13pm Nate K.:

Hey, Joe. Thanks for the Doses tunes.
  1:19pm Al Romano:

Very sorry about X-Ray and his family. He was a fellow Hudson County-ite when Hudson County was the smallest, poorest, `100% urban, most densely populated in NJ. Shantih to all, and thanks, Joe, for the audio memorial. Peace, love & memories.
  1:24pm Nate K.:

I remember listening to this set when it first aired, and thinking how good Paul Collins's band was. This was my introduction to Ryan and the Low Doses, I think.
Avatar 1:35pm Pat Byrne:

I think I first met Ryan at Cake Shop when they were backing Paul Collins and I remember thinking the same thing. I had seen Paul Collins backed by other bands but this one was the tightest and brightest. Then I saw Low Doses and was blown away. A year or so later, Ryan moved to downtown JC... across the street from me! I saw him all the time. This is a huge huge loss. So glad you are paying him a proper tribute, Joe. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm BnowB:

Take care Joe,.... Wfmu family must be so gutted. In my thoughts... pours. one to the curb...
  1:37pm Nate K.:

@Pat, dude made writing and playing power pop look very easy, and when done well, it's not. I always took note of that.
  1:39pm Bluesman:

Condolences to Joe Belock, Jonesy, Mike Sin and the entire extended WFMU family. Hit hard this weekend.

Joe - I know its with a heavy heart that you have to do this show, but all ya can do is keep doing what you do so well.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm karlward:

Man that guitar is smoking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Matt Clarke:

Thank you Joe for these tributes today
  1:42pm Bluesman:

So sorry Matt Clarke. Peace.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Hoboken Jack:

I love you, Joe. I love you, Matt.
  1:45pm Nate K.:

Hey, Matt. Thoughts are with you, friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Matt Clarke:

Thanks Bluesman and Hoboken Jack. Music really connects us all.
Avatar 1:45pm Pat Byrne:

@Nate Exactly! Super underrated and I always made a point to tell Ryan how good of a song writer he was. He always modestly shrugged me off. So I'd keep telling him. Rock n roll song writer is fucking hard. How do you make something sound new, fresh, unique and innovative 5 decades later? Dude found a way and then some. It was unbelievable power.

Thank you for sending out my favorite song by them, Joe! I know what you mean about tipping the sound guy, that ending... pure HEAT!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Afternoon, Jack. Thanks for dropping in with Therese last night.
  1:48pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

Thanks Joe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Thanks Joe. Showin' us why you're the "People's Champion!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Mike Sin:

Such nice tributes today. Great memories. Much of the logistics of that Low Doses live set I featured during a fill-in spot was finalized on a hot Summer's day while Ryan and I hung loose around the Grove Street PATH station after a chance meeting.
  1:56pm prudy:

wish I forgot Prince was a Jehovah's Witness.
  1:58pm Nate K.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm jillydg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Lizardner Dave Somethingorother:

Thank you Joe, and my sincere condolences. As much as we listeners are hurting I'm sure the cut is deeper for everyone who knew X-Ray off the air.
  1:23pm Liz:

Tons of love from San Diego. Ryan of Low Doses was a a rock n roll mastermind and such a stand up dude to be around. Love to everyone who is greiving
  2:56pm Ajax:

Great show Joe, I'm so sorry for your loss, but I guess if Ryan & X-Ray taught us anything it's to keep on rockin'.
  5:44pm Mitch:
