One Sunday afternoon, 10 years ago, I was in my backyard cutting the grass. I was listening to Glen and X-Ray and laughing my ass off out loud. This went on for at least 40 minutes as they were having some debate about who had the best ribs in the Jersey area, or some shit like that, and they had me laughing uproariously, out loud, pretty much the entire time. I stopped at some point to go in and get something to drink and my wife looked at me and said, "What are you laughing at out there?" not knowing I was listening to the radio, and I said, "WFMU to two of the funniest guys ever." and she was like, "Well, I thought you'd lost your marbles." P-90:

The truth about Keaton’s sight gags: they were meticulously planned and rehearsed. Nothing was set up or shot in any kind of casual, random, haphazard manner. The shot where the wall of the house falls is a perfect example. By the time the camera rolled on that one, the gag had been mapped out, the prop wall had been designed and built specifically for the gag, and had been raised and lowered many times around Keaton at different speeds to assure it would work predictably. The point is: the sense of spontaneity that causes the viewer to feel it “just happened” is there because Keaton wanted it that way and made it happen.
