A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

The singer of this band did one of WFMU's greatest podcasts, The Cake and Polka Parade Podcast, by Fatty Jubbo.
Avatar 7:09pm
spacebrother:

He had a great website too, I think.
Avatar 7:09pm
Don-O:

Gezzz, there's so much of 'FMU to keep track of. It has to be its own universe/galaxy/black hole...

Hi Might Watts Melly! My comment to you earlier disappeared in the aether! Thanks for tuning in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah. He quit all that radio nonsense to focus on painting and performing with this whacked out band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh. There it is. My tracking's whacked.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Rich in Washington:

Oddly, one of the few G&C albums I don't own. i think I have it on MP3 possibly. I used to own that 'Music from Consequences' promo lp but I sold or traded it for some damn reason.
Please do, Spacebrother!

yeah, I loved the Cake and Polka Parade show and blog. really missed it. he's a great painter, but come back Fatty!

Yeah, I was digging the similarity to the guitars in both songs, so dug this out.

but kind of literally grabbing stuff at random, sort of guided by previous songs to some extent.
Unfortunately, threw my I Ching - OUT the window!

who's the asshole in the gif?
Avatar 7:26pm
Mr Fab:

Aaaah, good ol Dr Gene Scott. "Nothing umder $100 tonight. no gifts tonight, i want sacrifice!" used to see his cigar-chomping self on TV back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm

No gifts tonight. I want SACRIFICE!

I included that Cabaret Voltaire track on a comp I put together for my old blog of songs featuring sampled preachers. There's a lot of em.

We briefly had bins and bins of Gene Scott lecture cassettes but my MiL took them back. They were batshit crazy, some of them.

I can't believe I've never played that It's OK album before! I've had it since it came out. It's pretty funny, especially if you grew up on Free To Be You and Me.
Avatar 7:46pm
Mr Fab:

that excellent "Girl Meets Boy" bit is a parody of Mel Brook's routine on the "Free To Be You And Me" album. Which I happen to know cuz that album's one of my daughter's favs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Rich in Washington:

I couldn't resist playing this. I've had the shorter single version for decades, so the LP version was a bit of a revelation for me.
Avatar 7:51pm
spacebrother:

I've heard this before on Dave Rabbit's Vietnam war-era pirate radio shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I am a relative newcomer to Bloodrock. I never heard of them before, but sometime in the mid 90s, an older coworker mistook my D.O.A. Bloodied But Unbowed cassette for the former band and went on and on about them.
Avatar 7:55pm
Mr Fab:

I got this on a weirdo '80s comp called "Death, Glory and Retribution" back in the day. Don't remember if it's the single or album length version.
Nice try death/black metal guys trying to come up with anything s creepy as THIS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I think the single version of this is on that amazing DJ Goatface Killah compilation, if I'm not mistaken.
Avatar 7:56pm

The Dave Rabbit show was called "Radio First Termer"

I have this developing love for early 70s hard rock, the stuff bordering on Heavy Metal, way before there was such a term.
