"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

So somebody gave us a combination coffee grinder/expresso machine, a real sturdy one from Montreal private label of an Italian company. Really really nice machine. I need to learn how to grind coffee the right size apparently, that is half the battle. Looking forward to serving guests cappuccinos and lattes.

I read his obit in the Washington Post and this intrigued me the most: His aim, he told the Times of London, was “to produce a piece of music so that it was impossible to know in which year it was recorded.”

@Wild Neil - fun fact, I first met Daniel Carter on Canal Street. Mentioned I was a fan of his improv jazz band Test (back then they played on the 6 line in the subway station - Astor or Bleecker Stop) - he asked if I played and I kinda flubbed that I was self-taught drummer/bass player - not on his level - and he gave me his number and said let's jam sometime. Never called...

I got Ken’s permission to call it a WFMU event, but the station cannot sponsor it officially. Since then I have not known what to do to promote it because I didn’t want to talk about it all the time on the forum and bore everybody. Well a whole month has passed and I have done nothing, so here I am talking about it on the forum again. Ken from Hyde Park suggested going on Wake and Bake and I will next week but mean time - I’m gonna talk about it.
