  12:28pm Dave C. from JCHeights:

Todd-O-Phonis calling out jim kerr and maria malito!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Cmurtha:

I can attest when I go from NYC to Columbus not only do you hear the SAME stuff on classic rock radio, but you hear the same songs as you go along, we count as we go along. I always assumed it was because most of these stations are owned by one larger group or another. There are a few decent not WFMU stations about, buuuut they are far and in-between, and tend to play Jazz/classical or live spin hip-hop in my experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Tommy in Neversink:

Just sent some $$$$..Love the show Joe
Avatar 12:32pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Let's celebrate our friends from Canada! As heard live on The Todd-O-Phonic Todd show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Rich in Washington:

I was thinking the same thing when I heard 'two-fer Tuesday'. I always assumed that was a made up thing by my local classic rock station here in Portland - KGON. Now owned by Intercomm radio, they play the same 15 - 16 songs over and over, usually at about the same time every day.
  12:36pm esther crow:

love sloan!!! hi Joe!!!! can't wait to wear my swanky new T SHIRT!!!

When I was laid up in the hospital, the kindhearted TOPT suggested a new band I might like: Lost Balloons. That being said, it might be fun to hear Tim co-host.

I am just seeing Todd getting double teamed with wicked chair shots
  1:16pm Marley Dogg:

So what was this argument about?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Cmurtha:

Good to know. I may be able to catch rat, though I won't be in Chicago anytime soon.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm OnTheTrain:

DO IT FOR THE ALLEN PARSONS PROJECT ?!?!
  2:14pm foreign_listener_k:

Actually, probably not - WHFS was a free form station in DC, and it is very likely that some DJ (not really Jum DunbarÄs style, but maybe Kim or any number of others) played in back in 81 or 82. There is no question that the OuUtskirts version sounds more like what I remember than the Let's Active version.
  2:15pm eki:

LOLOLOLOLOL that was a well-deserved crack at a certain fossil, T.
  2:19pm foreign_listener_k:

Though I love WFMU, I discovered it after the last WHFS DJ went off the air of the Annapolis successor. And led to discovering Monica playing some trippy whale music a few minutes later.
  2:20pm Marc15:

Is this Todd’s Roast of WFMU DJs?
Avatar 2:25pm Joe B:

current prize drawing - The Feelies - Time For a Witness LP reissue. Overlooked 1991 gem sounding better than ever thanks to Bar/None! Pledge of $20 or more gets you in the drawing!

  2:32pm PJ:

@Todd-o-phonic Todd, @foreign_listener_k: Wimpy Weasel Wednesdays. He was sort of the Clay Pigeon of HFS.
2:32pm Tim in the phone room:

This album is so good I may try to win it even though I already own it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Devin B.:

Not to distract from people pledging to FMU, but Weasel's currently got a show Sunday mornings on WOWD-LP Takoma Park
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm OnTheTrain:

Chunkylover54 at aol.com all one word.
  2:38pm foreign_listener_k:

Yes, no desire to stop people from talking about WFMU - the people's freeform station. But there have been other freeform stations, and they too had their glory days.

And you don't hear Christmas at Kmart on WFMU.as regularly as you used to at WHFS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X96Un6POoo8

  2:53pm Ike:

I loved WHFS but (at least by the time I heard it ca. 1990) it was not free-form the way FMU is. It was commercial free-form, mostly alt rock. No noise, no Edison cylinders, no freaky new age weirdness, no music of cults, no weird soundtracks. There’s no other FMU and never has been, so pledge now!!!
  2:54pm xezzy:

@ike just described any non-fmu radio
