Kind of like taking your parents record collection and getting drunk in a Radio Shack. Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Garage Punk, Regular Punk and Old-Fashioned Weirdos. Hopefully you have the patience for this fast-paced sonic impatience. Not recommended for the fan of 4 minute songs.

I apologize for this episode ahead of time. I don't usually do themes (the seemingly randomness is the theme), but this week on RECORD ROULETTE CLUB its nothing but songs by all LEFT HANDED musicians.
Avatar 1:50pm
recordrouletteclub:

I had to search far and wide to compile this playlist.
So, the music suffers a little, but as long as there's a fresh theme, that's whats important. Big picture ya know?

any new way to construct a playlist has my full support :-)

Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out
Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about
Well the names have all changed since you hung around
But those dreams have remained and they've turned around
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya
(Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya
(Back here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot 'cause we got him on the spot
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back

I should point out to anyone new to this show that Danny's name is literally "DJ": Danny J Henry. Being a jockey of disks was clearly his life's destiny!

@Mr Fab I'll just consider that growth in audience a coincidence!! Hahah
Avatar 2:33pm

Hey Joe! (Sorry, you probly get that a lot)
The Figgs seem Replacements-y. Which is always a good thing in my (cheap comic) book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm

@Mr Fab I'll have to check that out I have a very weird infatuation with 20th century pre His High Exhaulted Whatever Rudy NYC (particulary pop culture) history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm

@Mr. Fab you know not as much as you would think
Avatar 2:37pm
Mr Fab:

Love this "WIld Man" wild song! Tho I initially read the band name The Tamrons as, er, something else.
  2:41pm
Martinibomb:

I was looking that Frank Carson song up on youtube and someone made this funny comment about it hah. "Just got ready for a Sunday night session at the pub. My local has one of these new dukeboxes that literally has everything on its hard disk. A few of us old farts think up the bizarre garbage to play in order to wind up the young lads who are forever putting on shite such as Libertines, Snow Patrol, etc. For some reason, this song sprung to mind after about 40 years - so thanks to the poster, and Frank Carson, I now know what to search for."
Avatar 2:44pm
Mr Fab:

I really did LOL at your story Danny, t and at the above posted by Martinibomb. Oh man, I think Sheena's has another Official Song.
Avatar 2:45pm
recordrouletteclub:

I almost hate to play that song on the show, but its almost like a form of therapy to hear it. Like the worst kind of ear worm. I DO LOVE THE SONG. Its just complicated.
Avatar 2:46pm
Mr Fab:

me and my no-good hoodlum friends used to do the same thing with bar jukeboxes. once, when we saw that one had the White Album, we put "Revolution 9" on, like 10 times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Rich in Washington:

I used to take my kids to this local burger chain that was all fake 50s inside, complete with a fake Wurlitzer jukebox full of CDs and you could grab tokens for it at the front counter. To our delight, it had the best of Nuggets on it, so we'd program like an hour of garage and psych stuff. It got my kids to really appreciate stuff like the Seeds and Electric Prunes. It also made the other patrons really edgy. It was pretty fun. We'd do it every time and they eventually took that particular CD out of the machine, apparently.
Avatar 2:55pm
recordrouletteclub:

@Rich, that's hilarious!! It wasn't called "Flameburger" by any chance?
  2:56pm
Martinibomb:

@Rich Was that the 50s one that was in Lloyd center?
Avatar 2:57pm
recordrouletteclub:

I also heard a story once about 45rpm records that were just 4 min. of silence for the older folks to buy and play before the teens load up the jukebox with rock and roll junk , etc. anyone else ever hear of this phenomenon? It makes sense..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Rich in Washington:

No. It's Burgerville. They now have their own fake radio channel. I think it's programmed by the Portland agency formerly known as North, who are headed up by ex-Gang of Four member Dave Allen.
Avatar 2:59pm
Mr Fab:

i did read about a bar that had Eno's 'THursday Afternoon" - an hour of ambient music. It would drive the patrons crazy, but it was suspected that it was in the juke to give the bar employees a break.
Avatar 3:00pm
recordrouletteclub:

Time to turn on the lights and play the Frank Carson song again
Avatar 3:00pm
