Futile expeditions to the edges of good taste, bad morals, and ugly intententions. Late night drives somewhere between Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle and The White Castle of Fear.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am Cmurtha:

I hear the flaw of the game of thrones books is they are not a T.V show, and the flaw of the T.V show is that its not a book. I couldn't get into the books, Martin's prose is kinda janked imo. I hope you enjoy the show though.
  4:37am old ERIC thee hat:

By the way Wakka. I wasn’t poking fun at you...but apparently I’m a dick for making a Wayne’s World reference? As above so below.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39am Darren:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45am Cmurtha:

hohoh Darren you should read his descriptions of sex to find out how very right you are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46am Cmurtha:

I'd phrase that more crassly, but I'll restrain myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Darren:

Ric Flair descriptions of sex? literally that was my sex education as a young man
  4:54am old ERIC thee hat:

Ok. Now flashing back to my mid eighties Cambodian honeymoon.
Avatar 4:55am Diezel Tea:

  5:06am wakka wakka:

Nice friggin set Darren yeeeessaaaaa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07am Cmurtha:

I just read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Novella is better, but the world/humanity of the Androids in the movie is more my style. Andriods in the book are kinda meh because he wants to do this whole parody/de-humanizing humanity thing rather than letting the andriods be human. Tears in Rain
  5:08am old ERIC thee hat:

Wakka. Have we met?
  5:10am old ERIC thee hat:

Cmon. I hate you when yr pregnant?
  5:10am old ERIC thee hat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25am Darren:

I didn't hear nothin! And neither did u!!
Avatar 5:27am quasiblotto:

Cmurtha, PKD and GRRM are both pulp writers which is shorthand for good plots, bad writing. Totally agree that the translation to screen can be an improvement. Key details can get lost in translation or left out entirely... or improved upon. GOT the TV show has all of the above.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27am Darren:

quit making my safe harbor an unsafe space!!
Avatar 5:30am Davee:

Hello and good morning Darren
  5:33am old ERIC thee hat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am Cmurtha:

@quasi I can get behind PKD though most of the time, I think its just I love the movie so much that the total shift in focus/tone of the book is jarring. Martin - I feel like from when I tried to get into him he's kinda like the comic book writer Dan Abnett, really good at setting up a character in a short time and exploiting that, but nothing else about GOT really clicked for me. I admire that he will murder his darlings (literally), but the conflict/his prose really just turned me off. Why GOT is the fantasy setting/novel of this decade is confusing to me, but maybe I'm just being a contrarian hipster.
Avatar 5:48am Davee:

How is your Happy End?
  5:52am Curious Tom:

Cheers for the great show, Darren. It's been a wonderful start to a cold Scottish morning.
Avatar 5:54am quasiblotto:

@cmurth, I heaar ya. Blade Runner is def an improvement over the book. Other adaptations too. GOT as a whole fantasy thing, well yeah there's probably better stuff out there ripe for the adapting. "The Expanse" is actually kind of awesome.

Darren—what is your personal info so I can add you to my will. Thanks in advance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00am Cmurtha:

thanks Darren!
