Heh, BiUK. As unfavourable as you found his < 60 minute performance, and the attendent incident further souring your mood, please remember that here, thanks to a government rule about one song in three on the radio had to have *Canadian content*, we endured all of Mr. Lightfoot's career on a Mobius soundtrack. An hour, in retrospect, probably would have been enough.

Hughie Considine:

At a Roy Harper concert at the Bottom Line in 1997, opening act was John Ford of the Strawbs, who opened with "Benedictus." I sat at the very front with my friend Nigel who, being a huge fan of British folk and a busker to boot, sang along with every word (and there are about 50 verses). AT the end of the song, there's applause, and Ford's saying, "thank you, thank you." He then looks pointedly down a Nige and says, "And thank YOU."

Brian, I think some of the musicians involved may live in NJ and Long Island, NY.

I remember hearing a Strawbs song that apparently Iron Maiden borrowed the slow descending bass riff from for their song "Strange World" on their first record - anyone know what Strawbs song that is?

Cool interview, Joe! Has anyone listened to The Bunch? It looks like a one off supergroup with Sandy Denny, Richard and Linda, Fotheringay folks. I saw the record the other day. The album cover looked a little dubious so I didn't pick it up.

@tadpoles: I think it's interesting because even in the '60s he was writing songs about time and mortality and now he's a much older man. @tim; Some people hate The Bunch, but I think it's great fun. Dion's "My Girl the Month of May" is on there, and Sandy and Linda Peters (Thompson) sing Buddy Holly.
