Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Belockers, one & all! That interview was INSANE!
Avatar 1:43pm aaronfromMI:

Whenever I hear "Can't stop workin" I think that it's someone doing a Neil Young impersonation.
  1:49pm Dead Flowers Productions:

Great interview (and show), Joe! Hope to see you on Saturday. And yeah, I am with ^^ him, that Neil Young cut does sound like someone trying to do "Neil Young."
  1:56pm Chi Bill:

This Girls On Grass track is the 2nd I've heard on WFMU, adding to my 16 pages of hand scribbled notes. Thanks Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Guido from Cologne:

The song that made me purchse "154" 40 years ago. One of the best albums ever.

Avatar 2:39pm Linda Lee:

Fanny!!! thanks Joe!! i campaign for more Fanny on fmu. amazing band.
Avatar 2:40pm Joe B:

doing my part Linda!
Avatar 2:41pm aaronfromMI:

I like this. Any monster themed music is wonderful.
Avatar 2:41pm Linda Lee:

first all female band to score a full length album. they were dynamite.
Avatar 2:41pm Linda Lee:

listen to that woman play! June Millington. fabulous player.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Parq:

Poor ol' Randy Newman. People keep doing rave-up versions of his songs and doing better than he does with the original.
Avatar 2:42pm Carmichael:

She's from my hometown, Linda lee!
Avatar 2:43pm Linda Lee:

Sacramento! unless you're from the Phillippines?
  2:44pm Andrea in Jersey City:

This music is amazing. Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Gaylord Fields:

@Linda Lee: (Not so) fun fact: Fanny were the first all-female group to have a Top 40 hit on the Billboard singles chart — and by the skin of their teeth. "Charity Ball" peaked at No. 40 in 1971.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Gaylord Fields:

And by "group" I mean self-contained (played their own instruments).
Avatar 2:45pm Carmichael:

He he, no I'm not. They were a big band here, and I saw them many times.
Avatar 2:46pm Linda Lee:

a damn shame, Gaylord!
i have few regrets in life, but one was missing Fanny on my trips to LA in72 & 73. i did hear their music though! thrilled to pieces. June & her sister Jean were amazing musicians. just fabulous.
Avatar 2:47pm Linda Lee:

damn! remind me to kiss your eyes when i see you. :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Gaylord Fields:

Fanny delivered the goods, and were out to prove they were nobody's novelty act — just a band of great musicians rocking out as women in solidarity!
Avatar 2:50pm Joe B:

lucky Carmichael. seems the label wanted to make them a carly simon type hit machine instead of givign them a hard rock producer like jack douglas. i do like their records but after seeign that recent beat club video on youtube, they never captured how great of a live band they were in the studio
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Hoboken Jack:

Hey everybody!!
Avatar 2:50pm Z-pulpa:

I think this is a perfect time for this song, just to remember what we are about to get into... summer that is, slipping here and moving on.
Avatar 2:51pm Linda Lee:

they kicked ass for sure ~ and it was *hard* breaking that psychedelic glass ceiling.
June & Jean are also biracial, so they finessed that novelty as well.
Avatar 2:53pm Linda Lee:

June loves knowing Fanny's seeing airplay & we both hope it's a trend! they put so many 'star' bands of males to shame they've got to be required listening for anyone caring at all about rock music in the late 60s & 70s. Bowie had some amazing things to say about them as late as '99. Adored them.
Avatar 2:54pm Joe B:

Joe McGasko had June and Jean Millington on his show in 2011 if you want to check the archive
Avatar 2:55pm Linda Lee:

really! had no clue! i will!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Krys O.:

Thanks for a fun show, Joe!
Avatar 2:55pm Linda Lee:

there's a film in the works at the moment, i hear. just coming to fruition.
Avatar 2:56pm Linda Lee:

i don' t hear you regularly, Joe, but i did check in today & i'm loving it. :-)
Avatar 2:58pm Joe B:

Linda, go to joe's playlists to find it. the one on the FMA only has the (non-fanny) songs, not the interview
  2:59pm KP in DC:

See ya, Joe!
  3:00pm matty from brooklyn:

Thank you Joe!
Great show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Afternoon Joe!
  3:00pm Sylvia's Mother:

Gaylord: they were a band. As opposed to a vocal group.
