F-ing love The Dogs. Heard them at a high school gym in a suburb east in LA County c.'79. Cherish my copy of "Slash Your Face."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm
ultradamno:

Nice nasal punk take on Otis' classic.
  9:09pm
Dean:

And I remember seeing a copy of the "John Rock" single at a Long Beach radio station record library.

Lots of Hi-NRG rock tonight! At least until the Dogs are done.

JIMD2019:

There must be 2 bands called the dogs right? There's a French band called the dogs too!
Avatar 9:24pm

SO HAPPY
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
Nate K.:

@JIMD, there are three from the era that I know of. France, Detroit (the one on tonight), and Iowa. Probably more.

I can remember alerting Bob Schick to the fact New Order was a Stooges/MC5 offshoot band at Plan 9 Records when I visited Richmond once. He told me they had been mocking it (for the admittedly silly cover photo)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm
ultradamno:

This one i.ytimg.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
Nate K.:

@Ultra, I love that song, but I can't say it's my favorite offshoot of those bands.

When I first started going to record conventions, in the first flush of detroit punk mania, there was a guy who peddled a lot of that IDBI stuff. So I got to clean up on DAM, Coldcock, Retro, Cinecide, (MI) Mutants etc. That stuff's always been close to my heart.

Hello All!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm
Stevel:

The Dogs has a demonstrably hairy guitar tone. Tuff Enough lick is awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Nate K.:

@Ultra, that's great. I've been picking it up over the years, but no major deals to speak of unfortunately.
  10:18pm
Dean:

They are so very good.

Long live Sinclair!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm

@Dave, I briefly saw Sinclair do a spoken word thing in New Orleans once. He's still out there last I checked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm

"Thank God for bootleggers!" Awesome!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm

There was a Leni Sinclair photo exhibit at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Just closed. Hope it gets picked up elsewhere. Great history.

My parents are from Toledo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm

@Dean, the Necros are from Toledo, right?
  10:44pm
Dean:

Ha! My band opened for The Motels.
  10:45pm
Dean:

No idea, @Nate K.! Don't know them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Nate K.:

They went on to become Big Chief in Detroit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
ultradamno:

Reminds me of how Roky Erickson got screwed. There's a whole book in the attempts (some successful) to incarcerate counterculture acts of that time.
  10:49pm
Dean:

Buddy of mine saw The Dogs open for AC/DC at The Whisky a very l ong time ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Nate K.:

They played backyard shows with Van Halen in LA, too. They have quite a story.
  10:52pm
Dean:

Hell, yeah. VH played high schools in my 'hood at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
ultradamno:

A girl used to come into the record store I worked in high school with a her dog that was named Seeger. You'd think in Indiana it would be Cougar, but he never really could compete.
  10:58pm
Dean:

I read Savage's book about punk upon release. I was not pleased.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Nate K.:

Can't win 'em all, @Dean.
  11:03pm
Dean:

Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
ultradamno:

Need to pick this up. The title track is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
ultradamno:

Is the 'edit' due to all the "motherfucker"s repeated from original?
  11:44pm
rw:

Motherfucker of a show Nate K. Thanks, man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
ultradamno:

I'd say this one didn't just burn, it was incinerated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

Thanks @rw. Was a fun one.
