Hello, Rob and friends!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

With no Diane Kamikaze on the current schedule, it's quite the thing to hear some metal on WFMU. This is pretty wild.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Bas NL:

Hi Rob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Rob W:

Greetings Bas, Smilty, KHP, SeanG, chresti and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Stanley:

Nice drop of kora. Reminiscent of Dembo Konte and Kausu Kuyateh Jali Roll days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Stanley:

This good also.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:42pm chresti:

This, good.
Avatar 🌍 6:44pm Mitten John:

Good. This. Yes.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:48pm chresti:

I think Los Mirlos played last summer in LA
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

hello, WFMU pals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Rob W:

Yes chresti you're right about that. This is the first NY gig that I know of. They've played a few shows on the east coast on the current tour already actually.
Avatar 6:57pm northguineahills:

Being lazy, I'm just going to say what GST said (taking more words).
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

ngh, you're welcome to any of my comments, and i hope that if you feel so inspired, you may share about what delicious food may be on your menu (you always seem to be cooking up something tasty)
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:06pm chresti:

What Granny said...
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:06pm chresti:

Now, time to dance.
Avatar 7:11pm northguineahills:

I have more eggplant then I know what to do w/ in my garden, but only know stirfry recipes. It's not a really a thing in Mexico, otherwise it's other East Asian recipes. Any recipes welcome. I like to learn! (having bok choi, carrots, chilis (of course), sesame noodles, miso sauce, and soy, and an egg right now. I now have ghost peppers longer then my hand.
Avatar 7:13pm northguineahills:

I also know how to cook Caribbean, Indian and Thai, (but the later two take quite a bit of work)>
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

ngh: i'll be right over! (yummmm to all of that)
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

i would love to improve my Indian cooking. It is a LOT of preparation for a proper meal.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

And Rob, thank you for the gorgeous stream of sound entering my home and ears…
Avatar 🌍 7:16pm Mitten John:

Suggestion for NGH: Eggplant->ratatouille
Avatar 7:22pm northguineahills:

@Mitten John! On it. I'm not an expert on Italian cooking (and all of its regions), but it's usually easy. I'll look for a Sardinian/Sicilian recipe.
Avatar 7:24pm northguineahills:

although I make a mean vegan pizza, w/ either pita or naan....(not vegan, but usually cook vegan/veggie).
Avatar 7:26pm northguineahills:

@GST: My Indian-American friend gave me lessons, and she said it took her teen years-20s to figure out what she was doing. I usually just make West African curries (there is an African market here, so it's easier to get ingredients).
Avatar 7:31pm Fox:

Babaganoush is super easy. My favorite indian dish is Baingan Barta: cooking.nytimes.com...
Avatar 7:34pm northguineahills:

happy thanks, Fox!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm хtina:

good sounds a'cookin
Avatar 7:47pm northguineahills:

I wanted my wife to go to Los Mirlos, but she didn't text me back in time (she is the reason for Mexi and Colombian cumbia collection, y cumbia rebajada.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

a smoky babaganoush is one of my favorite snacks ever
Avatar 7:49pm northguineahills:

text me back in time to email for tix

my cumbia record collection.

I'll figure out English, even if it takes me another 40 years.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

this is an irresistible beat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Michael 98145:

English is an evolving language.

:)
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Bas NL:

Hey! I only just read The Netherlands won the Eurovision Songfestival.. last time was 44 years ago. :|
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Michael 98145:

Congrats ( i suppose ) @Bas!

:)
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:04pm Bas NL:

My second discovery was it had already taken place @Michael! Can't say i followed it too much.
Avatar 8:05pm northguineahills:

@Bas: Never heard of Teach-In (I wasn't born yet, and Eurovision viewing/news wasn't available here until the last decade). But I knew the next winner ABBA (as does everyone else).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm Michael 98145:

I don't think our pathetic cable provider provided any coverage of the event ...
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:09pm Bas NL:

Like ABBA Teach-In were known mainstream artists with nice poppy tunes.. ABBA from Sweden were better by miles though.
Avatar 8:19pm northguineahills:

(I'm more of a Boney M kind of guy).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Rob W:

Congratulations, I think, Bas!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:24pm chresti:

I forgot about the quiet pause, earlier..
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Bas NL:

Boney M.. way cool @ngh! He, he.. i still must have some of their 7'' hit singles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Michael 98145:

Hmm ... "Madonna arrived in Israel on Tuesday and is scheduled to perform at the contest’s grand final on Saturday night. The bombastic live show, including supermodel Bar Refaeli as one of the announcers, is expected to attract an international television audience of about 200 million viewers. "
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Michael 98145:

Forgot about this : "Israel won the right to host the competition after Israeli singer Netta captured the public vote in the contest last year with the song “Toy,” a high-energy reference to the #MeToo movement, replete with chicken sounds."
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Bas NL:

Yes, and so next year The Netherlands will host Eurovision.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Rob Weisberg:

The Dutch victory means that we can send Bas to report on next year's Eurovision final which therefore will be in the Netherlands!
  8:32pm John from Florham Park:

Hello fellow listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm Michael 98145:

I don't think Bas deserves such treatment

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Michael 98145:

I really enjoy your programs. Thank you, Rob W.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Bas NL:

What would top Madonna in a Grand Finale.. It's a very festive happening; I'll try to get in.
Avatar 8:36pm northguineahills:

Did Monty Hall have another Eurovision viewing party?
Avatar 8:37pm northguineahills:

Has there been a decent winner outside of ABBA?
Avatar 🌍 8:40pm YETI BOB:

This Solju track is just amazing! Thanks Rob for another great show.
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm Bas NL:

Well.. probably none that have reached the US like ABBA. Vicky Leandros? Nicole?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Michael 98145:

this is quite wonderful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm maestroso:

Hi Rob! Late joining in. This Trad.Attack! record is so great.
Avatar 8:54pm northguineahills:

merry gracias, Rob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm Michael 98145:

especially since yesterday was Syttende Mai
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:57pm chresti:

Thanks Rob, great!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Bas NL:

Thanks Rob!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Maybe they can invite Golden Earring to entertain next year. Clay Pigeon would approve.
