Mr Fab:

Hey ho, Don-O! Fats Waller had a short life, but he crammed a helluva lot of music in. I've been meaning to dig more deeply into his catalog, so really appreciate this show.

Martinibomb:

Love Fats! One of my piano hero's for sure

We're having chicken tonight! Manmade! As big as my fist! But they're new!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm
Rich in Washington:

Look at my knees!
Avatar 6:01pm
Don-O:

I suspect this MIGHT be a first of many. SO freakin' much to dig through for a show without sounding 'thrown together.
Avatar 6:02pm
Otis Fodder:

Listening while I exit on over to the bluetooth speaker in the kitchen for food and piano rolls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm
Rich in Washington:

No one's here in my house. I am cranking this so loud my neighbors might call county mental health services.
Avatar 6:02pm
Mr Fab:

ha Rich, yep, Fats on the organ is permanently intertwined with the "Eraserhead" soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Rich in Washington:

I am probably due to watch Eraserhead again. It's been a while.
Avatar 6:03pm
Don-O:

M.Bomb: could you spare maybe a picture or two of the box and/or the film itself of that condensed 'Xanadu' reel please? I run a web site and FB group all about that film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm
Rich in Washington:

I am probably due to watch Xanadu again as well. I wish I could mash the two films up somehow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
Rich in Washington:

I hear if you start playing the Xanadu soundtrack right as the opening credits to Eraserhead starts....
Avatar 6:07pm
Don-O:

I'm just waiting for either MST3K or Rifftrax to do a hit on Xanadu any day now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
coelacanth∅:

hey this is Fats Waller! this isn't crap!
Avatar 6:09pm
geezerette:

No one hipper than Fats! Genius!
  6:10pm
Martinibomb:

@Don & Rich let's write our own Sheena's rifftrax for Xanadu?!
Avatar 6:10pm
Don-O:

NO it's not! It's FATS.....though not the Domino variety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm
Rich in Washington:

This really is wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm
Rich in Washington:

Totally! It sure is riff fodder. Also, The Apple, which is maybe a bit more deserving of a relentless riffing.
Avatar 6:12pm
Don-O:

Oh, CRAP! The Apple is the mount Everest of VERY bad musicals!! Xanadu is boringly bad, but The Apple is the punch-in-the-face bad!!!
  6:12pm
Martinibomb:

I've seen every David Lynch film beginning with Elephant Man which was the first film I ever remember thinking, "wow I love this movie it's my favorite movie." as a 9yr old. I still have not seen Eraserhead for some reason. I think I've been saving it for some reason but I really should sit down and watch it.
Avatar 6:13pm

I've always love this:
David Lynch: Eraserhead is my most spiritual film.

It's been solid for me all day. The only interruption I experienced was due to my stupid phone while out walking on the road during Otis' show.

Mailman Tom:

I love Fats Waller! Got introduced to his music via LPs, back in the 1960s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Rich in Washington:

This is wonderful, Don-O!
Avatar 6:45pm
Don-O:

CBS released The Essential Fats Waller some years ago, but it is strictly digital, not in a CD format.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Mailman Tom: I was just recently thinking about those classic devil head ornaments that you have in your avatar.
Avatar 6:47pm
Mailman Tom:

As soon as a saw that image on Pinterest, I snatched it for myself!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember winning a pair of the rear view mirror ornaments at a carnival as a very small boy and some fundy relatives who were in attendance with us being horrified that I wanted not just one, but two of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm
Rich in Washington:

I also miss those classic shrunken head mirror ornaments.
  6:50pm
Martinibomb:

was just thinkin' I hope he plays tea for two and bam! there it is
Avatar 6:50pm
Mailman Tom:

Funny, I'm reading a western crime novel now and the setting is a carnival!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Carnivals are wonderfully weird places/events. I haven't been to our county fair in decades but I have a strong urge to go again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm
Rich in Washington:

I need to see that movie Nightmare Alley again. A Noir set in a carnival. Really good.
Avatar 6:54pm
Don-O:

I didn't want to play too many of his stride records or some headaches will explode.
Avatar 6:55pm
Don-O:

...but I'm sure old Rich will pick things up quite a bit VERY soon: www.wfmu.org...
