Evening Therese. A song still needed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Parq:

Sigh -- if only we could.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Therese:

Evening, folks.
10:09pm Dave in Vermont on the phone:

Good evening beautiful people
  10:09pm Carmichael:

Heya Therese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm chresti:

Hi Therese! Don't have to go to bed early, for a change, although I could pass out due to being up since 5 AM
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm chresti:

  10:13pm katharsis:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

  10:14pm SunJahAquarian:

So nice to hear my favorite REM record on FMU
Avatar 10:15pm Roberto:

Great song, awful beverage.
Avatar 10:15pm Hams:

i always seem to catch rem on this show. ..funny, i grew up in athens, ga, but didn't start really listening to'm until i moved away. i was buying all there used CDs in shops around new york. maybe i was homesick in some sort of way.
Avatar 10:26pm TDK60:

..haven't heard this Bragg tune before. // the Wikip. pg says Vigilantes leave the option open that the vet is alive or ghost but the wife died.
  10:27pm grace:

Avatar 10:31pm JIMD2019:

What actually is orange crush ??? Aussie here
  10:32pm pp:

fake orange soda pop or carbonated beverage, or the Broncos football team nickname
Avatar 10:32pm TDK60:

Orange Crush is a sugary orange soda.
Avatar 10:33pm JIMD2019:

Oh :-/ like Fanta?
  10:34pm pp:

PJ sounding a lot like Ian Mac here -- or heyar as the pronunciation would go.
  10:34pm Carmichael:

Kinda, yeah.
Avatar 10:34pm TDK60:

about the only soda I can take anymore is ginger beer, Jamaican style.
  10:34pm Carmichael:

I always preferred Fresca.
Avatar 10:35pm JIMD2019:

wow never tried. I still hit coke and Pocari sweat and Gatorade when I’m hungover. Electrolytes
Avatar 10:36pm TDK60:

bleep bleep attempted, hehee!..
Avatar 10:36pm JIMD2019:

That was cool although I thought I had vertigo for a second
Avatar 10:37pm TDK60:

lotsa folx never heard the /studio/ version of this, pretty unique. (CJ&F 2nd LP)
  10:37pm Carmichael:

Therese, are you going to play The Fugs’ Kill For Peace?
  10:38pm Carmichael:

This is the Woodstock version.
Avatar 10:39pm JIMD2019:

Ah Donovan you beautiful man
  10:40pm Carmichael:

Oh, I see what you’re saying, TDK. Disregard ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Are there pocari sweat cocktails?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Therese:

I don't have the Fugs with me, dang it.
  10:42pm Carmichael:

No worries, just playing armchair DJ here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Besides the soft drink, isn't Orange Crush in the song referring to the Vietnam-era defoliant Agent Orange? The stuff that causes cancer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Aitch:

Hero of the War, Scott Walker coming to mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm chresti:

My older brother had a CJATF album
Avatar 10:43pm JIMD2019:

I’ve thought about mixing booze with “recovery” drinks but I think the hangovers would be deathly
Avatar 10:43pm TDK60:

Donovan would sing about the topical. / Fugs next time, Therese? / chresti: first 3 CJ&F LPs great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm chresti:

What's pocari sweat?
Avatar 10:45pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello Therese, Parq, HP Ken, everybody!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm chresti:

I drink sparkly water, sometimes with a little tart cherry juice and herbal tincture
  10:47pm Carmichael:

Causes death too, Ken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Hi Therese. Sometimes I nearly forget how much I like listening to Iron Maiden. Thank you for the reminder. You can take the girl outta New Jersey...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm suzyhotrod:

Therese! I really like your show. Thanks for playing Maiden!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Therese:

What's up, Suzy Hot Rod?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Therese:

Hi Wendy!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm chresti:

Kudzu tincture, made with strong, clear alcohol
  10:49pm Carmichael:

Barry Melton was the Public Defender for Yolo County here for 30 years.
Avatar 10:49pm Roberto:

The Trooper was one of my college friend's favorite songs. I always thought it would mash up nicely with The Police's Next to You.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Mmmmm kudzu... pocari sweat is a sports drink from Japan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Therese:

Hi Jack! I need to go back and listen to the archive of your IRL interview...
Avatar 10:51pm TDK60:

Melton was one of the great Bay Area guitar wizards back then. {imho}
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Ooh, now Metallica. It's like it's 1990 again, in a good way.
  10:51pm Carmichael:

Beavis and Butthead are clicky starring this set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm chresti:

..a little kombucha for sweetness- boom, recovery drink@JIMD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm medson:

I thought I was ready for bed until these last two songs.
If It wasn't so hot and I wasn't 30 lbs heavier than I was in 1984 Id put on my old leather jacket : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Therese:

I am channeling my inner WSOU DJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm chresti:

Ah, thanks Granny.
  10:53pm fizzy:

Oh, now this is a set of music.
  10:53pm TVP:

Alright, let's see if Rutgers can stop 'em on 3rd Down. (Probably not)
  10:53pm fizzy:

Therese, you're making my weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In 1986, some friends of mine came out to visit and we found WSOU and thought it was the greatest thing ever.
  10:54pm Carmichael:

I am about release the kraken, depending on the next song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Therese: Ah, good ol' WSOU!
Medson: I have the same problem. I need to get ready for bed, but Iron Maiden, and Metallica...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

chresti, next time you're in sf go to Japantown and there's a vending machine by the bridge that has all kinds of Japanese beverages. The restaurant on the bridge (a face of Patti Smith's btw) has all kinds of wacky drinks
Avatar 10:57pm Roberto:

Whomever donated it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Face = fave
Avatar 10:57pm Roberto:

Next thing you know, you'll be saying "whomst" like my daughter.
  10:58pm katharsis:

@wendy I feel that way about frosty lipstick and nj
  10:58pm Carmichael:

@granny, my favorite Chinese restaurant (run by Koreans) is right there on Post.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Carmichael: oooh gotta try that! That's such a classic mix. :)
  11:02pm Carmichael:

San Wong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm chresti:

GST, cool, will do! Japan Town is easy to get to from Divisadero.
  11:03pm Carmichael:

Ask not for whomst the bell tolls. It tolls for all y’all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm chresti:

Ha- I was picturing a mural with Patti Smith
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm SadSackSuperman:

What a set! And to think, earlier this evening, I was feeling nostalgic, listening to the Philly 500 on WMGK, then Jimmy Buffet turned up in the countdown, and I put away childish things. I'll not change the dial again...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi Jack. Outstanding presentation on IRL the other night. I'll be motorcycling through Hoboken tomorrow morning on the way to the station. Meeting some listeners to bike up to Bear Mountain for kicks. And we're not going to be hassled by The Man!
  11:05pm fizzy:

Yes! Do it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Katharsis: I avoided the make-up portion of my NJ upbringing. I was never really femme-y enough, I guess. For a few weeks I wore black eyeliner when I was 15 or so, until it bothered my eyes and I thought, "F*** this."
  11:06pm Carmichael:

Nice, Ken. Do you guys wanna get loaded??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

  11:06pm Carmichael:

Wendy, recovering goth ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Carmichael, I was never totally goth, either. I was always just kinda myself. Goths required too much make-up, and, well, as I already said...
  11:10pm katharsis:

I find it hard to ever be enough anything.
  11:12pm Carmichael:

That Clinic song just came up on my iPod while I was driving. Came from the FMU thumb drive premium a few years back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

I adored the goths, yet I adored dayglo... and so the goths adored me not
  11:20pm katharsis:

I want your take!
  11:21pm Marc15:

So, was I correct? Did George Smiley end up on the Iron Throne? Was I? Was I?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Therese:

@Marc15- They had an opening for Master of Whispers- George Smiley should apply.
  11:32pm greatb:

hello all. just remembering the effect of "machine gun" in A Serious Man. Tho I guess that was from the second show, aka Band of Gypsies. lovely stuff all the way round
  11:33pm greatb:

and what a surprise, jimi handles the machine gun solo just as adeptly as night 2!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Therese. Have a safe Memorial Day.
  11:58pm katharsis:

Thank you!
