I've seen Spacemen 3 at Brownies. I saw Experimental Audio Research, and Peter Kember (Sonic Boom) in FL when I was 19, and he smoked a friend and me out afterwards. When I was 20, Spectrum came to FL, and only 10 people showed up (shitty promotion, 60 were there for EAR), and not only did he smoke me and my friend out again, he gave us a tour of his analogue electronics, and let us play w/ them...
  11:12pm
JakeGould:

I went to the Limelight with a friend in 1986 or 1987? Anyway, we parked on 20th Street right next to it and near a hydrant. We came out, the car was towed and we had to walk in the rain to the subway, then past the Port Authority at like 2:00am. Completely decrepit and just lots of homeless sheltering and us soaked walking past it.

Well, I was sleeping on a beach in northern Calofornia, and when I went out to the highway in the morning my car was gone. I hitch hiked to San Francisco, borrowed five dollars then thumbed it home to L.A. Several months later I got a call from the CHP. They had found the body of my car in the forest above Santa Cruz - just the shell, nothing else. They asked me if I wanted to come and get it. I politly declined.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
Daniel Blumin:

You sure about Spacemen, ngh? I don't think they ever made it over! But yes Sonic was a great guest on air and I dig the Spectrum and E.A.R stuff - to keep up the theme of autoblues - my car was stolen after I DJ'd a Spectrum set at The Hook!

In 1990, I was driving a Chrysler K-car with close to 100k miles on it and it burned a lot of oil. I was driving down the Taconic Parkway to NYC and pulled over to add some. I spilled a bit on the exhaust manifold and the oil caught fire. I had visions of the car burning up, but my friend & I scooped up snow and was able to put it out and continue our journey. I replaced that car about two months later. Drove it to a junkyard and handed over the title.
