Hello Fabio and everybody. Not to sound like Clay but did anyone else thing that Bob Seger may have "borrowed" the melody from that Eno song for Still The Same?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm

Actually, if I sounded like Clay I'd say the reverse.

Pauline Kael's awesomely brutal takedown of the monstrously overrated 2001: A Space Odyssey (yes I am a total heretic, I know, I know) is perhaps the thing I love her the most for. I've probably posted this before here, but if you didn't see it, here it is. 'Tis truly a thing of beauty: scrapsfromtheloft.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm
tim from champaign:

Ike, you heretic! Go listen to Felder!
Avatar 5:22pm
Fabio:

@ IKE: ...and this is perhaps the thing she is best remembered for: getting people to argue over movies! She was divisive to say the very least, and she had many who disagreed with her. My guy was Andrew sarris, who was her polar opposite, and a great critic as well. I didn't always agre3e with him either, but I felt he was more precise in his analyses. and to be clear, I am absolutely IN the 2001 camp -- I love it and anything Kubrick did...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm
tim from champaign:

Speaking of Kubrick, I'm really digging recent films that have a Barry Lyndon vibe with the cinematography like Sophia Coppola's Beguiled and The Favourite.
Avatar 5:29pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Kubrick films are like a good novel: change how you look @ things...his attention to detail & framing every shot. Anybody ever see him in Lynch that way?? Or is that a nutty comparison...
2001 floored me when I was 10 or 12 or something...
