I'm like Dean Martin with parties; up to a point, I'd rather retreat to my room and call the cops on the party I started.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Rich in Washington:

Love the mix, Martinibomb!
  4:09pm
Martinibomb:

Oh good! That's great to know it sound cool at least. I like that little recorder I have
  4:09pm
TheHipMen:

This is very 90's
  4:09pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks Rich! I'm always up for experimenting and trying new things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Somewhere I have hours and hours of field recordings of one of the first St. John's No Fests, just walking around recording various acts, street scenes, etc.
  4:10pm
Martinibomb:

@Hip I do kinda tend to like 90s loungecore hip hop sounds
Avatar 4:10pm
Otis Fodder:

What type recorder/model is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Does some young woman come up to you and try to sell you Madonna's pap smear?
  4:11pm
Martinibomb:

It's a Tascam DDR-3 very small. I taped a shoe lace around it and hung it around my neck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
Rich in Washington:

I feel like we're there!
  4:11pm
Martinibomb:

Hhaha Yes this is pretty cool I'm having fun listening and I was really there
  4:12pm
Martinibomb:

I have a soft spot for field recordings tho. It's different way to experience things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Rich in Washington:

I've got one of those old first gen Zoom H2s and it sounds really good.
  4:12pm
Martinibomb:

I've also got a zoom h4 yeah those are good machines
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Rich in Washington:

I also have some really long recordings of walking around lower East Burnside on election night when Obama was elected for the first time. People were partying in the streets. It was like VJ day. Pretty crazy.
  4:14pm
Martinibomb:

hah I made some similar recording rich!!! yesss
Avatar 4:14pm
Otis Fodder:

I have a Zoom H1 I use and as long as there is no wind and I have to jimmy how it sits, works incredible. The zooms are great.

  4:27pm
TheHipMen:

Now this is very 90s
  4:27pm
Martinibomb:

Hahah Yeah pretty close it's I think either late 90s early 2000's
  4:29pm
Martinibomb:

I don't have it vinyl.. it's on a 2011 comp called People like us? Think I've had it around since 2003 tho
  4:32pm
TheHipMen:

People Like Us reminds me of the experimental artist that had a radio show on WFMU.
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

Actually that comp was put out by Vicki/People like us/WFMu fame. Sheena's took over her stream here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
Rich in Washington:

He's talking about Clay Pigeon. He used to do those vox pop segments on his old show.
  4:35pm
Martinibomb:

Ohh I didn't realize he was talking about clay pigeon. Yeah I always liked those segments and yeh was thinking of him while recording this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Rich in Washington:

We're squatting on the old Boredcast stream. Sorry, Vicki!
  4:36pm
Martinibomb:

yup thanks for moving over Vicki! haha now that the mental patients have taken over the asylum
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Rich in Washington:

He was really good at it. Another person who used to do a show here in Portland on Cascade Community Radio was Cherie Blackfeather. Her show was called Vox Pop, and that's what she did, just walk around Portland talking to people.
  4:38pm
Martinibomb:

I'm usually kinda nervous to chat with people but for some reason having a mic and headphones makes it easier for me hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
Rich in Washington:

And CCR had, of course, Full Life Radio.
  4:39pm
Martinibomb:

Clay pigeon was always great interviewing people his personality is kinda perfect for dealing with all kinds of people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
Rich in Washington:

I'd like to get back into field and person-on-the-street recordings again. I just never do things like that anymore.
  4:40pm
Martinibomb:

I had been thinking about it for awhile with this show. LIke I just wanted to record me walking around my hood? or something
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
Rich in Washington:

I still wanna do my show from my car. God knows my commute times are long enough.
  4:42pm
Martinibomb:

I could kidna see that working maybe the first half on the way in and the second on the way home?
Avatar 4:51pm
Mr Fab:

Durn work, missing all this. Will have to rock the archive later. But field recording/man-in-the-street stuff is a good idea. Esp. if it's like Coyle and Sharpe!
  4:52pm
Martinibomb:

Oh man I wasn't aware of Coyle and Sharpe thanks for the tip fab! ya always learn something everytime from you
  4:52pm
Martinibomb:

I'm telling ya you need to start dropping in bit so fthat Fab knowledge into the stream that would be sooooo cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
Rich in Washington:

I love Coyle & Sharpe. They were effing brilliant.
Avatar 4:54pm
Mr Fab:

There is a Coyle Sharpe track in the stream, the classic "Maniacs in Living Hell." check it out if you're new to them.
  4:55pm
Martinibomb:

Im looking around for them right now probably be listening to them after the show today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I sent the link to Maniacs to my son who was really nervous about an upcoming job interview. I am such a good parent.
  4:56pm
Martinibomb:

I wish you were my dad Rich! Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
Rich in Washington:

I love Druggist, but it's kind of protracted for radio listening. Also, Sandor 21.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
Rich in Washington:

Mal Sharpe is still alive. His daughter Jennifer had a really interesting early blog era blog and I think was key in getting Coyle and Sharpe stuff reissued.
  5:01pm
Martinibomb:

I wonder if her blog is still up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
Rich in Washington:

It's been gone for ages. Not sure what she's up to now.
  5:03pm
Martinibomb:

I suspect I've heard Coyle and Sharpe but didn't know what it was... so be good to sit down with them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. Weird synchronicity today. Was just twittering amongst friends about cartoonist B. Kliban and just now reading about Jennifer Sharpe's blog and she cites Kliban - who was friends with her parents - as an early inspiration.
  5:05pm
Martinibomb:

what the hell!! that's crazy what a coincidence hahaha
  5:06pm
Martinibomb:

Isn't synchronicity a buckminster fuller term? one of his words he invented that we still use?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm
Rich in Washington:

I found an interview with her from 2012. It's about that interesting era of the early WWW days where a few individuals had personal websites, then blogs, which were quite interesting. Modern social media seems to have commodified and trivialized such things. It was a whole other era.
  5:08pm
Martinibomb:

I miss those days. I thought it was better than these centralized systems we're using now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm
Rich in Washington:

The Golden Age of Blogging.
  5:09pm

His daughter sounds like a really interesting person. I wonder if we could interveiw her for Sheenas?
Avatar 5:09pm
Mr Fab:

Sorry all, work meeting. See y'all Fri.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm

It's all very controlled. The frontier of the World Wide Web has been completely suburbanized. Little boxes, little boxes.
  5:10pm
Martinibomb:

Take care Mr fab!
  5:10pm
Martinibomb:

I like the WFMU website because it's such a throw back but I like it better than all the super fancy web 2.0 shit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Wobbly did a really cool Over the Edge a month ago or so where he had another early web, pre-SM guy talking about that era of blogging, etc. It was great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm
Rich in Washington:

See you later, Senor Fab!
  5:11pm
Martinibomb:

cool I'll have to catch up on OTE I've been mostly listening to that 24hour stream lately
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
Rich in Washington:

That stream's incredible. I would like to set something like that up for my ten+ years of archives of my shows.
  5:13pm
Martinibomb:

dude you have soooooo much material I could totally see that working
  5:16pm
Martinibomb:

And this CCR edit brought to you by future Sheena's Jungle DJ, Ursula 1000
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm

This is awesome!
  5:20pm
Martinibomb:

I have a bunch of edits he gave me years ago.. feel like he was really hammering the edits out like this around 03/04?
Avatar 5:26pm
