A-WA: Exuberant Yemeni-Jewish Dance Music

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

Take three vocally gifted Israeli sisters, an old Yemeni-Jewish song, add musical guidance from a leader of electro-roots groundbreakers Balkan Beat Box... the result: A-WA's Habib Galbi, a global smash with over 12 million YouTube views.

A-WA takes ancient Yemenite Jewish women's songs to the dancefloor and they're taking the world by storm. A-WA is touring to support their wonderful second album Bayti Fi Rasi, with a big Central Park Summerstage show Sunday evening June 30th. But first, experience A-WA live on WFMU!

Big thanks to A-WA's engineer Eran Ben Zur and to WFMU volunteer Ilana!
