GG, the 'bend me shape me' super popular here was by a band called 'american breed'. much lighter pop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But I want to really go crazy and also dig a lot in my archives in the second hour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ah! American Breed! Yes - I know them :-)
Avatar 5:19pm
Linda Lee:

very light-hearted, their version was ~ when it's not an especially light-hearted song.

"The Microphone" A thriller by Georgy Ragazza.
Avatar 5:25pm
Linda Lee:

is this really 'a little bit o' soul' by Spencer Davis? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mad, isn't it? I get so nervous before each show, relax into the music, and then it'[s done. lol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I keep thinking he's going to say "Said the actress to the bishop" lol.
Avatar 5:27pm
Linda Lee:

that's almost exactly what the guitarist June Millington says about playing a gig. do you know her work with the band Fanny? they were pretty phenomenal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My God yes!!! I keep seeing clips of Fanny. Phenomenal band!!
Avatar 5:29pm
Linda Lee:

i think she was one of the best of her time, frankly. she & her sister overcame a lot in the business, but they were inhumanly driven! :-)
Avatar 5:30pm
Linda Lee:

they were finally invited to record at Apple Studios, which was a real trip & an honor for them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

They're American, aren't they?
Avatar 5:32pm
Linda Lee:

yes, out of southern california, though June & her sister were born in the Philippines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm

i'm mystified that the band isn't better known ~ but there are multiple reasons for it, due to the times & who they were.

DJ GeorgyGirl:

Does my new show slot count as Drive Time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I mean ... to be a female band at any point in history is going to be hard. To be a female band in a genre like hard rock ... that's the biggest mountain. I'm so glad they're getting recognition tho, like you said :-)
Avatar 5:41pm
Linda Lee:

not a moment too soon! :-)
yes, i'd call this drive time.
