You pitching show titles, Dean? Cause that'd be perfect, if you were.
En garde, NGH!

.is a horse, of course...
  9:05pm
Dean:

Just sayin' Mr. Ed didn't need to write poems, 'cuz he could recite them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm
chresti:

I got a Mr, Ed book for my 7th birthday.
Hello Sam and poetic horse officials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm

I thought they were holding pic-up sticks or "geezer grabbers"

The hats are a dead give away for shuffle boarders, Chresti. Welcome!

dying was the best thing to happen here
my ghost is allowed to express itself freely
and now i emerge as the great horse-poet i always knew
i lived a long life so shed no tear
and i don't have to endure the questionable riding posture
of that dumbass coelacanth the ersatz buckaroo

the end

thanks a lot chresti. encourage her.
she never spoke to me like that when she was alive.

Dean:

Never registered that Bacharach is just over two weeks my mom's junior. Both still kicking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
chresti:

Did you know she was a poet when she was alive? @coel?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm

really liked that Purple Mountains song, thanks for playing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm

Does your mom like Bacharach?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm

chresti i did not. i'm still not sure about it.
  9:25pm

My mom adores Bacharach, as now do I.

Hey, Asheville John! Could not recommend the entire Purple Mountains record more highly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm

@NGH: I checked out Mouse on Mars upon your recommendation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm

i doubt my mom adores Bacharach. i don't think she ever listens to music actually. sadly.

Is this a tribute to Paul Krassner? Yippie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm
Sam Segal:

I am gonna come clean with you before I even Google him, Dean. I don't know who Paul Krassner is.
  9:34pm
Dean:

He was a Yippie (like Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin...). Died recently at a ripe old age. Yippie!

Dean:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Sam Segal:

Ah! Seems like something I shoulda known. Thanks for schooling me, Dean. Speaking of Abbie Hoffman, have you folks heard about this insane 38 disc Woodstock boxed set that's coming out? It actually seems kind of cool, just given the amount of interview material they have with attendees that never made it into the movie. Probably won't be shelling out for the 38 disc version though.
  9:38pm
Dean:

No, but I am aware of a 222 CD box set from DG, all Bach. That's right, two hundred and twenty two. Might just have to spring for it...
  9:39pm
Dean:

(In the spirit of Abbie Hoffman, I'd *love* to steal the Bach box.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm
Sam Segal:

Steal That Bach(s)!
  9:43pm
Dean:

Rather, Steal This Bach. Damn, that's good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
coelacanth∅:

in my sister's present house the "powder room" has wallpaper that simulates shelves full of books. they went away for 3 weeks almost immediately after moving in and i was in charge. most of the books had blank spines, so i gave many of them titles; some titles i made up, some of actual books.
"steal this book" is one of them, and the kids, when they discovered what i'd done, especially liked that one. (probably even more so because their surname is hoffmann, and i did print the author's name on that one)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm
coelacanth∅:

(boy that's a long post for a pointless story...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Sam Segal:

Hahaha, that's a great story, Coel. Remember any other titles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
coelacanth∅:

real ones? galapagos; the way of zen; fractals everywhere; delta of venus; secret life of plants; a triple set:inca, maya, aztec...
hmmm kinda blanking out...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm

i would never have entered someone else's house uninvited (unless i was in the mood for a beating, which was rare)
but one time a friend came over and i was upstairs and he just walked in. once i determined that he'd come in without anyone opening the door for him i think i was in a state of shock! such a foreign idea to me.

I was invited to a prestigious track and field event in elementary school. I never finished the race a received a disqualifying time. I also claimed to have read the entire works of Kurt Vonnegut that year as well. 5th grade was a time of true market capitalization.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
Sam Segal:

Carmichael! Funny seeing you here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Sam Segal:

Chris, you gotta write poetry, man.
  11:28pm
Charles Manson:

I received an award for reading in 4th grade. I disputed it. "I didn't read that much," I told the teacher. "Yes, but you read more advanced material." Yet I hadn't! Consequently, I've spent my entire life trying to earn that award.

I'm Phil Collins!
  11:36pm
Chris Farrell:

I had a fascination with that world. I remember being mesmerized by the idea of 1984 by George Orwell. Now that I’m older I can appreciate stuff like that a bit more. “They are the salt of the earth” (Vonnegut talking about science fiction writers).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm

Franco Twinkie:

Straight from the after the fact and beyond the point desk: When I was a younger person I worked in a hospital kitchen, all my co-workers were at dinner, so I had the run of the place. A request from one of the floors came in for a salad, so I decided to make the salad...out of garbage. When the ladies who usually took care of such things came back from their break all hell broke loose. I was dragged into the office and interrogated, but I denied everything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
coelacanth∅:

i love Vonnegut. i decided at some point that after reading all Vonnegut books that had somehow ended up in my possession, and the ones my sister has/had, which is 10-12, i'd read the balance if his output in the order in which they were published...but i haven't gotten very far. there're several other authors i want to read everything by; and many books people have recommended.
  11:44pm
Dean:

I loved (and still love) Vonnegut, but I soon moved on...to Joyce, Woolf, Lessing, Rabelais, James, Brookner...Seidel, Ashbery, Dickinson...
