Sean T.:

Saw the E.C./Blondie show. Missed most of Blondie's set, but definitely it was just about seeing Clem Burke for me. Elvis' set skewed especially nostalgic because that's how the tour was conceived. He played from his whole catalog when I saw him 16 months ago.

Personally I loved the new song he played Piano on from what I take to be an upcoming B'way production of "A Face in the Crowd." I was actually stunned by it, but my ears are probably a bit more "open" than the nostalgic audience.
  11:48am
Listener Paul:

I remember in Ursual LeGuin's Lathe of Heaven With A LIttle Help From My Friends featured prominently in a discussion between George Orr and the Alien junk shop owner. I believe George Orr bought the 45. In My LIfe would be a good candidate. But I think I'm going to go with Hear Comes the Sun.
  11:52am
JT:

For the alien's ears I'd vote for "The Word" for encapsulating the band at both ends of their existence, ie. the infectious harmonies and hooks of the early stuff but ushering in the psychedelic era to come, in one song . . . which just happens to come halfway in the catalog.

Jan 1st I helped clear out an artists studio to make way for actual "art." My Haul was about 3,000 sketchy 45's and maybe 800 lps, 600 of which are comedy records including a whole series of Redd Foxx "Party Records" featuring exactly the same cover on each volume. The cover sketch is credited to R.Foxx
