Moving while it's pouring rain, I suppose it's fun as long as Therese (well, WFMU in general, as I've been doing it since dawn solo) provides the soundtrack.

@NGH- moving is the WORST. And in bad weather is the WORSTEST. Good luck...

Wow. I haven't heard this track since this album came out in the '90s. I interviewed Towa. He went into this disconsolate rant about climate change and what his kids were going to face in the future. I still think about those words to this day - quite a bit, actually.

I'm going to try to slowly move my record shelves in his pickup to his loft space. At least it's less then a mile, and we can take the residential circuitous route.

moving records is the worst thing, in my opinion. heavy and fragile and important.

i've seen many more fireflies this year than i have in many years. more dragonflies too. both very good things.
...more butterflies than last year at this time, including monarchs and beautiful mostly black ones; i didn't think of it as bad.

I planted some milkweed in Feb, and have gotten some monarchs as of the last two weeks (I'm in FL).

@coel: I'm powered by my early beer, I know I'll be in pain later. I got all of my recs, save maybe 700, in my Subaru. I just need to drive slow so the load doesn't shift. I'll let you know on the next shift! Salud, amigos!

Dan from Delco:

Lots of fireflies this year too. I remember seeing them into October last year.

I've heard there's a lot of dragonflies in lower Manhattan lately (I saw a smooshed one in Brooklyn the other day).Thanx for playing Eddy Senay! I'd never heard of him before. He's really good.

good luck ngh! ...really slow, because this is the opportunity for some dipshit to cut you off or something.
Avatar 5:53pm

@coel: taking the residential circuitous route, very slowly, where there will be no traffic, for just that reason.
Avatar 5:54pm
Therese:

@Impboy- makes sense. I remember Deee-lite being one of the first acts to move away from plastic packaging.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm
coelacanth∅:

i'm still trying to figure out how cutting down more trees for paper bags is better for the ecology/climate than drilling for oil.
...anyway at least -about 40 years too late and an infinite number of years after the more civilized countries - states in the us are requiring stores to charge $ for bags.

Marquee Moon still sounds as jarring as it did when it came out in 1977. Does that weirdly qualify it as a "Classic?"

Ok, moved my recs to my friend's loft, and my car battery die. after 30 mins, got it working again, and then we tried to move one of my record shelves to his truck, and it broke apart. This is the universe saying, "fuck you", because of reasons. Off to Lowes to see if we resuscitate my shelf somehow. I need a drink (sorry, I'm not usually so stressed).

R.I.P. Rutger Hauer. He actually rewrote that speech too better fit his understanding of a replicants mind. ‘The two lines Hauer kept from the original draft of the speech were “attack ships” and “C-beams.” Hauer believed the original speech was written in a way that was too operatic, a tone he felt a replicant would never use.’ www.indiewire.com...
  7:25pm
JakeGould:

It makes sense: Simple minded, emotionally aware and conscious of mortality and its experiences.

Also, there are some great online discussions about what life in those “Off World Colonies” might be like. The general conclusion is it has to all be a hells cape if there are so many replicants deployed there to keep societies afloat.

Everything music related is moved but my shelves, chresti, my friend went to Lowes to get supplies to fix the one the broke down. I hired Russian movers in Brooklyn, to move my stuff in FL, and it cost me $2K, and they broke my CD and record shelves, so, I had to cobble them back together. So, now, hanging on by dawls and glue, one just shattered.
