Hello Jason! I finally have a day off and can tune in
Avatar 11:07am
Jason Elbogen:

Hey Fred nice to see you again! In your honor I'm playing this French 7" (at the wrong speed initially by mistake)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Jason!

fred:

Glad to hear you're still at the top of your glitching game

Hi Jan!
Hi fred!
Hi Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm

There is no wrong speed.

This was a great set!
Avatar 12:15pm
Otis Fodder:

Hi Jason and everyone. Happy Friday. Soundtrack to another long day of work here.
Avatar 12:24pm
Mr Fab:

hey Otis! haven't you played that Suzanne Menzel album?
Avatar 12:26pm
Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Just recently, fantastic reissue out. Love it.
Avatar 12:27pm
Mr Fab:

ha, the only thing Jason's played that i recognize, and it's solely because of your show.
Avatar 12:28pm
Otis Fodder:

95% of what is played here is new to my ears. That adds up to a fav-sorta-show! Turning me on to gems.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Rich in Washington:

What a great album title.
Avatar 12:32pm
Mr Fab:

YeeaaaH! Song-poem alert! Oh man, does Darryl "World's Worst Records" know about this one?
Avatar 12:34pm
Jason Elbogen:

Thanks Otis.! I think I actually first came across you YEARS ago--if my memory serves correct, but I could be wrong, did you do a writeup/365 days thing for Gen Orange?
Avatar 12:35pm
Otis Fodder:

"Future Songs of Success" = Yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Rich in Washington:

WOW! This is craptacular!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Rich in Washington:

dig that Wiggins beat!
Avatar 12:36pm
Otis Fodder:

@Jason - Yes, I posted the Gen Orange day. Finally collected the 2 7" and 2 LPs, adding the first s/t orange one last year. I headed up 365 both years, just don't credit myself for that on the project (just listed as a contributor).
Avatar 12:36pm
Otis Fodder:

Your show Jason, could be the entire 3rd year of 365 Days! :)
Avatar 12:37pm
Mr Fab:

Jason, Otis was da man! The actual creator of the 365 Project.
Avatar 12:38pm
Otis Fodder:

Rick Mackey is currently holding a special place in my heart, normally reserved for butterflies, baby animals and clouds.
  12:39pm
Jake:

:)
Avatar 12:39pm
Otis Fodder:

Stories, love stories. Bend our ears.
Avatar 12:50pm
Mr Fab:

Anyone ever heard "sacred steel" music? It's technically considered "gospel," but mostly instrumental. Absolutely insane steel guitar mayhem. Recorded in churches, where they just go berserk on the strings.
Avatar 12:52pm
Mr Fab:

Tom Jones cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Rich in Washington:

oh man. I am hoping it's batshit crazy like Pentecostals blowing those shofar horns.
Avatar 12:55pm
Otis Fodder:

The missing link between Tom Jones and Sylvester's versions. Ben E. King is pouring another drink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
fred:

@Mr Fab: "sacred steel" sounds like something I'd love to hear
Avatar 12:55pm
Mr Fab:

Don't know if I've heard that stuff Rich. Any recordings you could recommend?
Avatar 1:01pm
Mr Fab:

i thought this was Tangela Tricolli, heh heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh. It's just something that Pentos do in church, esp these newer Russian converts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Rich in Washington:

There's a funny bit in one of those Melba crank call recordings where 'she' just cuts loose with a trumpet for no apparent reason, but some of these crazy backwoods churches do crap like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Rich in Washington:

You're just killin' it with these oddball records, Jason!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Rich in Washington:

Your pizza rolls are done.
Avatar 1:06pm
Otis Fodder:

Post at the door too with another ebay order.
Avatar 1:07pm
Mr Fab:

If that beeping is just in your head, it's spread to mine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Rich in Washington:

Dang it, Fab! Now I've got it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
fred:

There's a church I pass by on my way home that often has many congregants carrying instruments. I don't know the denomination.
Avatar 1:09pm
Otis Fodder:

Nevermind, was just a truck backing up outside simultaneously in 4 cities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Rich in Washington:

my wife and I have this unspoken agreement to never divulge the song title of the song stuck in either of our heads - suffice it to say simply 'i've got this song stuck in my head', lest it get transmitted from one head to the other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Rich in Washington:

was particularly bad when we were listening to the Rhino 70s Have A Nice Day set on shuffle for several months. So many childhood/teenage earworms.
Avatar 1:11pm
Mr Fab:

fred: if it's anything like the church I grow up in, they'll accept any denominations! (*boom-tish*)
  1:11pm
Jake:

never heard this version, wow!
Avatar 1:12pm
Mr Fab:

i accept any demon-izations.

(I'll stop now)
Avatar 1:12pm
Mr Fab:

This VU might be the live in Paris show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
fred:

Whenever I have a bad song stuck in my head, I use Swing Largo by People Like Us to dislodge it. Works every time, with either version (I still have a song stuck in my head, but it's a good one)
  1:13pm
Jake:

just looked it up and it seems to be... i have to find the rest now!
  1:14pm
Jake:

one version i'd love to hear is the 1965 demo... still unreleased/uncirculated as far as i'm aware
Avatar 1:15pm
Mr Fab:

Live in Paris is quite good, but no Moe or Sterling - 'tis Lou, Cale & Nico.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
Rich in Washington:

@fred: that sounds like a lovely way to beat the earworm, actually. I love PLU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
Rich in Washington:

There are lots of songs I actually DON'T mind having stuck in my head. One of the benefits of being a weirdo musical obsessive, I guess.
Avatar 1:26pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, kind of disorienting to hear actual professionally recorded music, after all those ramshackle private-press sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
fred:

Is that the same (Belgian) Vive La Fête that Ken has played quite a few times?
Avatar 1:33pm
Mr Fab:

Wow, had no idea that the site of that horrific Eagles of Death Metal slaughter was were that VU show was. I've had bootlegs for ages of the VU show, but never made the connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
fred:

I've been to Bataclan a few times, but not in the past 10 years or so. It's an expensive place
Avatar 1:40pm
Mr Fab:

Darryl gave you a shout this past Wed on his World's Worst Records show, Jason, for sending him down the Asian childrens' music rabbit hole. He played what i think was a Thai track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
fred:

Speaking of earworms: when my brother was adopted from Korea, he brought few things with him, but one was a record of Santoki. That song is etched in my brain forever
  1:45pm
Lins:

Hello! Thanks for playing Famous Logs in History! But to clarify: the band is from Brooklyn, NY...not Jersey :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
fred:

I remember thinking it was quite funny to have Famous Logs in History play on Burn It Down
Avatar 1:59pm
Otis Fodder:

Thanks Jason for the music, have a cool weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
fred:

Thanks Jason, I might be able to listen next week too
  2:00pm
Jake:

great show, thanks for the tunes!
Avatar 2:01pm
Mr Fab:
