This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Hi Hyde! Here it comes
Avatar 7:10pm

that is alessandroni on guitar, even if its credited to Peymont here. I imagine they worked on the whole album together

Hi Gary! wonderful news, I hope it's treating you well
Avatar 7:20pm

rambunctious sound from Cast 5 here. going harder than they need to on this boilerplate light groove and improving it with gratuitous intensity
Avatar 7:21pm
hyde:

that's good stuff
Avatar 7:23pm

dang, i just put a public library CD of Herbie Hancock's "Sextant" into my computer because i wanted to rip it, and it made the most hideous sounds

probly i should have decided i wanted to rip this one a decade ago

Hi NGH!

@hyde: you don't have to like herbie but his sounds aren't the MOST hideous. hyperbole gone mad
Avatar 7:26pm

@Flash it wasnt the Herbie, it was the sounds my comp made when i put in the public library CD!

@ngh good luck, dude

@Flash i totally love Herbie Hancock, for the record

Avatar 7:42pm
Flash Strap:

great great stuff from VDB Joel on this LP
Avatar 7:43pm
hyde:

@Flash haha.can't really express just how seminal a record Headhunters was for me (and i love the earlier jazz stuff and Rockit too. That's a legacy). Aside: i cheat on WFMU in the Am because i get up painfully early and Harvard student run radio WHRB comes on at 5 and is easy to turn on my kitchen KLH. and youd'd be amazed at how much the young'uns play Watermelon Man and Chameleon. I hear them ALL the time.
Avatar 7:45pm
Flash Strap:

yeah Headhunters was one of the first psychedelic funk jazz records that lured me towards deeper waters in the high school days and I of course love it to this day
Avatar 7:50pm
Flash Strap:

such a weird vibe on this whole record, really appreciate how he makes these minimal, primordial psychedelic soundscapes

If this was a Finn that spoke Italian, the album could be entitled, "Moog Suano Suami Del Domani"

Iacoucci is a Calabrian name (originally Greek), There are still some Greek speaking villages there today....
Avatar 9:18pm

most of Iacoucci's output was on Deneb, either under that name or H. Caiage, but this one of Flirt is quite remarkable I think
