Bad book, horrible movie (but hilarious acting by Sting, almost makes it worth it)

And Toto & Brian Eno collaborating: !!!

scraps, i must respectfully but emphatically disagree re: the book
Avatar 12:10am

the movie, while terrible, is also one of my most watched somehow - it's very soothing to me for some reason

Love in a sweaty still suit could be the name of a song
Avatar 12:13am
sv:

i want a still suit so bad
Avatar 12:13am

I like Pinhas’s stuff way way back, when he got weird, like =Un rêve sans conséquence spéciale=
Avatar 12:13am
sv:

@scraps i've mainly listened to iceland from pinhas, and i do enjoy that record
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am

If you could run the suit on vodka particularly
Avatar 12:16am
Scraps:

sv, much of Pinhas stuff under the name Heldon is excellent too I think
Avatar 12:18am
sv:

i'd wanna run my still suit on oolong or grapefruit juice

Hippie Jesus:

Pinhas album with Merzbow -Keio Line- is something else. ‘Iceland’ is something I recommend. I got to see Richard perform live a few years back, just he & his guitar.
Avatar 12:25am
sv:

that merzbow collab sounds mighty interesting
  12:29am
Hippie Jesus:

They have a couple together, but Keio is my favorite:

  1:36am
rw:

I built a still 20 years ago as an artwork for a group show with a loose Valentine's Day theme. It was pretty easy but I'm trying to figure out how that technology could integrate into a suit. I guess there'd be condensation... it might be sloshy to walk around in. Seems possible though. What would something like that smell like?
  1:38am
rw:

Ash Ra Tempel AND Timothy Leary? That's just crazy.
Avatar 1:38am
sv:

in the novel the still suit contains technology sophisticated enough to produce filtered water from waste and collected sweat - presumably much of the odor is prevented by this tech [i hope this is the case]
  1:42am
rw:

I was imagining the odor of a freshly cleaned port-a-potty.
  1:52am
rw:

So... getting back to the music and thinking about Ash Ra and TL... I hear about artists making work while under the influence of psychedelics but I've never been able to imagine how. Or, rather, how one would go about making something actually interesting while under said influence. Do you think those stories are mostly legend?
  1:53am
rw:

And sorry if I'm being annoying. I just have some work I'm trying to avoid.
Avatar 1:56am
sv:

that's a good question - i think it comes down to personal constitution. some people can do everyday tasks with greater aplomb while stoned, some can't. by the same token, psychedelics do open new pathways of thought, and some who have those pathways open manage to walk down theme with greater ease than others.
Avatar 1:59am
sv:

for that ash ra tempel/TL collab record, the story goes that he heroically dosed the members of the band then had them play
Avatar 2:01am
sv:

please excuse my typos
  2:02am
rw:

I think I'd feel accomplished if I managed to get a guitar cord plugged in. Typos... you're not dosing heroically right now, are you?
Avatar 2:03am
sv:

only on the spice melange, my friend!
  2:07am
rw:

Ha! Nice. Keep the typos coming. But I think it's time for me. Thanks sv for the music and conversation. Have a good one!
